  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Father, Thank You that you care for each of us individually. Please be with this man and his family and friends as they come to terms with this illness and the effects it will have on each. Sometimes Father it is at our weakest moment that you effect a turning point and I pray that this will happen for Cherubs friend. That he will have a chance to know peace everlasting with you.

Thank You Father
Amen

This didn't hit me hard until last night, on the drive home from church. I was just in shock. Then it hit me, that I might not see him again. I stared crying and couldn't stop!

Here is the current situation. He didn't go long without oxygen, so chances are there's no brain damage of any sort. But there are three issues which will have to be taken care of if he is to survive.

- He has a blood infection which was apparently there for some time. This will add complications to everything else.

- During or after the heart attack, he inhaled vomit into one lung. This has caused an infection in that lung.

- The arteries in his heart are clogged.

Right now he is on the respirator. Sometime tonight they took him off it to see if he is breathing on his own - I haven't got word back on how that went. Are there perhaps some medical experts here who could explain the practical aspects of the current situation? :( Let's continue to pray about this. I've been praying all day long.

Father, I pray today for Cherub8 and her situation. I know you are with her and will continue to be. I pray you will give her peace today knowing that you hear her prayers, are listening and that you care. You know the medical condition of her friend and I pray you will direct the Doctors and help them to ensure their patient is comfortable and if it be your will, he make a full recovery. Please be with his family and friends. Thank You Father. Amen. :prayer:

Hey Cherub8,

You are going through a tough time but I have to say your faithfullness to prayer and commitment are really shinning through on this matter. Keep it up, Jesus hears your voice. You would not be normal if you were not affected by what has happened be assured of that. Keep praying you are an inspiration and surely a good friend at a time of need, for what greater gift is there than prayer.

Love
Maggie

Okay, here is the update.

- He was able to breathe on his own, without the respirator! :)
- They will now attempt a 5-way bypass on him. Pray that it goes well.
- The blood and lung infections are under control, according to the doctors.
- He was briefly concious, enough to understand what is going on.

Let's continue praying for his salvation and full recovery. :)

Blessings,
Cherub.

Yep - At 3pm (Pacific Time) on Wednesday the doctors will attempt a 5 bypass surgery. This is what it all comes down to. Dean has overcome 3 hurdles so far: no brain damage, and both infections are under control. I pray that these are signs of a full recovery. :)

When Dean had the heart attack, he was having lunch in a restaurant with a young friend (a teenager he mentored). It must have been terrible for the kid to see that happening. We must pray for him also.

:groupray: Father Thank You, that you have answered our prayers so much already. I pray for this operation for this mans recovery and that this will be a time he is open to hear about you and accept you are his Saviour. That you brought him through for a purpose. I pray to for the young person who witnessed this event that it will be a turning point for him. That he will see how fragile life is and that this will be a new beginning for him also particularly as he witnesses recovery. Thank You Lord for hearing and answering our prayers. Be with this man in surgery today. :prayer:

Okay, here is the latest.

They'll take him off the ventilator again tonight. Pray that he does well breathing on his own.

We also need to pray for his recovery, because it will be difficult. Normally, a patient strengthens their heart by getting plenty of exercise. But Dean has been in a wheelchair for 13 years due to a construction accident. And since they took some arteries out of his arms to use on his heart, upper-body exercise will be difficult.

He is a fighter - I know he'll make it. Let's pray for a quick, miraculous recovery. :) Thank you so much to those who have been praying. God bless each and every one of you.
