New Blessings System:

Blessings are a way to add interactivity to our community. Blessings are gained by participating in the community, and being blessed by other members. You can then in turn bless other members or exchange blessings for various features.

How to get blessings:

1. Be nice to members and they will bless you.
2. Reply to Posts. You get 1 blessing.
3. Rate other members. You get 1 blessing.
4. Start new Threads. You get 7 blessings
5. Keep a daily Journal. You get 2 blessings (only for public entries).
6. Post comments in the Photo Gallery. You get 3 blessings.
7. Attempt a CF Quiz. Each question you answer correctly will get you 10 blessings! There are usually 10-20 questions.
8. Become the Champion of an Arcade Game by getting the Highest Score. You get 1,000 blessings!
9. Donate to CF and keep us running! You get 1,000 blessings for every dollar. A $20 donation will get you 20,000 blessings, plus a Site Supporter icon, and help keep this site stay online!

How to use blessings:

1. Bless other members!
2. Exchange blessings for Armor of God items.
3. Play an Arcade Game for 10 blessings per game.
4. Upload Photos into your Photo Gallery for 10 blessings each.
5. Attempt a CF quiz for 20 blessings per quiz.
6. Change your Mood for 25 blessings. 
7. Add notes to your Notepad for 30 blessings.
8. Change your Signature 50 blessings. 
9. Change your Custom User Title for 100 blessings.
10. Customize your Username Text Effects for 120 blessings.
11. Change your Photo in your profile for 150 blessings. 
12. Add your Voice or Music to your profile for 150 blessings.
13. Change your Avatar for 200 blessings.
14. Add your very own CF Custom HTML Page for 500 blessings.
15. Each official Warning will cost a member 1,000 blessings.

In particular, let me know what other features we have here that we can exchange blessings for. It makes the whole blessing system more useful this way.

Maybe they should be exchangeable to clear warning points? Popular/well-liked posters maybe deserve some implicit support.

Mmm... that defeats the purpose of warning points...

However, you've given me an idea. I've made it so that each official warning a member gets will cost them 1,000 blessings.

My thinking was that if a warning could be bought off for, say, 50,000 blessings, there's a way for posters who are well-liked by the readers to get cut a bit of slack... If the number's high enough, it's very hard to abuse, but could, over a period of months, allow users who contribute a lot to discussions to get a clean slate.

What happens if you have 0 blessings, but you want to change your signature line or something? Do you go in the hole, or do you just have to wait until you have enough saved up?

Added a new feature for Site Supporters, members who make donations to CF.

Each dollar you donate will now also get you 1,000 blessings!

A donation of $20 will get you 20,000 blessings. This is as a gesture of thanks for your support!

well seeing how you brought up purchasing things at the cf store just curious as to where the money that is donated goes?does it go into someones pockets? or does it go to run the site? same whith the items purchased at cf store

You sure about that? That's six free warnings for me... unless you want to tightly restrict the doling out of blessings to more of a science than an art.

The donations will obviously go into running the site. I run this site by myself, with no external sponsorship or advertising. This site costs thousands of dollars to support - it is one of the largest Christian forums sites around, and the bandwidth and hardware, as well as software costs me lots of money each month. I am running it on its own server at the moment, which is expensive. Basically, it is costing me a mint. This "hobby" is becoming very expensive.

Hence, I am asking for donations from members who use this site extensively. I am basically paying out of my own pocket for the benefit of the site's members, but cannot go doing this indefinitely.

I intend to keep this service free of banner ads as much as I can, hence the donations. And the sale of merchandise. But like I said, I cannot run this site at a loss indefinitely.

oh ok thanks , i hope you dont close it down anytime soon i actluy think this site is pretty cool aside from being called a rasict and having my faith questioned ,i will have to crusie on over to the cf store and see what kind of goodies you have and buy something i need a new mouse pad got any ?

Just so you all know, I've dropped the Arcade Games Champion blessings from 10,000 to 1,000. This is effective from now and won't affect previous champs.

I ran this by the rest of staff, and they unanimously vetoed the idea.

Attempt a CF quiz for 20 blessings per quiz.

Each question you answer correctly will get you 10 blessings!

You can only attempt each quiz once.

New ways to get blessings -

1) Post a daily journal. Each PUBLIC entry is 2 blessings (and adds 1 to your post count).

2) Comment on photos in the Photo Gallery. Each comment or review is 3 blessings.

New change:

1) Each photo you upload to the Photo Gallery will require 10 blessings. You can easily get them back by reviewing other photos.

Members with over 1,000 posts can make their own CF Homepage here using HTML - each change will use up 500 blessings. This homepage will be linked to from the member's profile. This is a good way to have your very own homepage hosted by us!

(We only allow members with over 1,000 posts to do this for security reasons.)

Do this by going to your User Control Panel, and clicking on the "Page" link.
