The original thread was deleted as I had asked for help in it. That post sans the request for help is below. I posted the response following it on another forum where the thread had the request for help editted out. Among the responses was one suggesting I tell my in-laws to find somewhere else to live. And, that we live without electricty. Which isn't a very good option as we have electric heat.

Hi, My name is Tim Maloney and in 2002 I was forced into bankruptcy. I tried to avoid this situation in part by selling off my possessions to pay the bills. Hoping that things would turn around. I was even prepared to borrow funds from my 70 year old mother. Unfortunately, she passed away Thanksgiving weekend 2001 rather unexpectedly. In late June of this year a dispersal was made from my Mother's estate. My portion was just over $14,000.00 and to be honest was very welcome. I had to pay for surgery that my wife, Tracy, had undergone, my vehicle was acting up, Samantha, my 4 year old daughter, needed clothing to start school and I need dental work. Plus, my in-laws were in danger of losing their home. So as soon as I got the money I took care of the medical bills, helped my in-laws and traded my vehicle in for a 1995 Jeep. This plus a few minor purchases took about $11,000.00. I had to cancel the dental work because... Shortly after this I received a call from the Bankruptcy Trustee telling me that I wasn't supposed to get the money from my Mom's estate and had to turn it over forthwith. I explained that I had already spent a large portion. She advised me to send the balance to her and that she was filing a motion with the court to recover the rest. I was also told that if the money was not reimbursed the US Marshals would come looking for me. I sent her $3550.00 which resulted in an overdraft on my account due to an automatic bill pay that I didn't make an allowance for.
At the hearing on July 15, 2004, I was given 120 days to return the balance by Judge William S Howard of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Covington, KY (Case No. 02-20260). This in spite of the fact that the court acknowledged that it wasn't my fault that I had received the funds, nor been previously advised that the funds had to go to the trustee. I am currently unemployed and I have again started selling what possessions I have. This includes the Jeep I bought, which will leave my family and I without any means of transportation. I have to wait to sell it, though; until I receive the title from the state in 6-8 weeks!
Needless to say I havent even made a ripple in the obligation. I am making a plea to all who read this to give me just a bit of help. Prayers are fervently requested - for this situation, for a job and for my health - my blood pressure on 08/18/04 was 150/118 and a little later it was 160/110.
Thank you for taking the time to read my requests and for any consideration you may show us. May the LORD bless and keep you and yours always.

Thanks everyone for your prayers and thoughts. I apologize for not responding sooner, my free trial on AOL ran out...
My in-laws don't have anywhere else to go. My wife has told me stories of their living in their car & in shelters. I'm not very enthused with the idea of cramming them in here, but I'm not about to make 9 people live on the street. That was why we lent them so much money when we had it. We hoped to help to get them back where they could keep their home. Unfortunately it was too little, too late. They got to this point because of their one daughter who reneged on her responsibilities after she got engaged. There isn't enough time, nor space to detail everything here.
We do attend church at a very small Independent Baptist Church and I have spoken to the Pastor about our situation. He's offered prayer, but no financial help. To a degree that is understandable--they started a building project last year & it continues as they have the funds and manpower. I have contacted a number of other churches and most didn't even bother to respond at all. Others have said that since I'm not a member of their congregation they can't help (didn't even offer prayer).
I have been accused repeatedly of just trying to scam people. I had one gentleman state that I wasn't a Christian & that I was "spitting in GOD's face". He didn't bother to check the facts even though my original post offers info (case number, judge's name) that can be used to verify that I have until November 15th to come up with the money. If I don't I'll be in contempt of court & can be thrown in jail for just about any length of time the judge picks. And, it most definitely will be by the grace of GOD if I do get the funds. Less than 55 people responded by sending us assistance, most sent the buck I asked for, but a few sent a little more.
The Scriptures direct us to help one another repeatedly. JESUS says to "Give to him that asketh" Matthew 5:42.
I've started maybe 7-8 lines after the above & erased each of them as they sounded devisive to me. I'm not looking to get rich--I just want to get the courts out of the way. Without going to debtors prison. I can deal with doing laundry in a sink, using candles, etc. I'm sorry. I'm starting to vent in the wrong place.
Thanks again to all & May the LORD bless each of you bountifully through His riches in Heaven.
Tim

I would like to take a moment to apologize for my absence from the prayer requests the past couple of weeks. Part of it is my AOL trial running out, but more is because I've been in a bit of a funk. In addition to the big problem I have with the Bankruptcy court I've got a bunch of other lesser ones--2 teeth have broken apart; my vehicle has engine trouble, a leaking roof, tires that are showing wires, a power steering fluid leak, 2 doors that don't function right; my blood pressure is hovering around 155/110 with spikes to at least 173/123; my wife's Aunt was kicked out of her home by her son and we've ended up as go-betweens; my wife's cousin was murdered in Texas & we may be recruited to retrieve her cremated remains (our expenses would be covered, but the time ain't the best for us); My wife was diagnosed as having either gall stones or ulcers. Thankfully when the results of the tests came back she had neither, but the tests & doctors visit ran about $600. I ripped my thumb open complying with the County Judge Executive's request to clean up the yard--hospital bills @$500. I've been unable to find on-going employment. I have had some jobs where I did what was needed at the moment & got paid right afterwards. These are just a few of the things that have happened since the end of June.
Please pray very fervently for us, especially regarding the bankruptcy court. Thanks & GOD bless you.
