  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Wow! We started the underwear thing this morning. He peed in his underwear while sitting on the couch. I didn't change his underwear, I cleaned up the couch, didn't discipline him, and asked him if he woudl like to try the potty next time. He was really quiet and looked at me funny. This went on all afternoon!

By 5pm tonight, he pulled down his underwear in the bathroom and went to the potty! I was so proud of him! I gave him a big hug and a high five (since he thinks it is sooo cool to give five), then gave him a new pair of underwear. It was like looking at a new kid! :D He was proud of himself!

I just put him to bed and we are going to start over with the underwear in the morning. Tonight he is in pull-ups.

Thank you so much for all of the ideas!

It won't be long before he gets the hang of it. My daughter loves ot give high fives too and we have the potty dance where we just jump up and down while singnghte word potty over and over again and end it with a woo hoo. I agree with Etharia be consistent - even though at times it may be frustrating. The best is when they don't even tell you that they have to go and they just go in the bathroom and hen you hear the toilet flush!

It only seems like potty training takes forever. When you are in the midst of it, the whole world revolves around bodily functions :)
Every mom does the best that she can do. God will give you the extra measure of grace, strength and wisdom when you are running short.
