Well I still want to hear from Fr. Corapi first I just don't believe them right now and I still think he is being railroaded

I am sure he will not admit to any of it. According to his order he has violated every vow in favor of money, sex and what basically amounts to a cult of personality based around him that he can not relinquish. He has lied all along and the statement on the investigation by his own order now proves it.

So basically they should have or actually did have issues with him years ago that were not addressed or he refused to obey?

I remember when I saw him in person one time that he was talking about attempted threats of his life at his home in Montana... that his house has massive fencing around it and lots of guard dogs, and people have STILL even made it up to his house - or some story like that. Seems he would have always been better off living with his order.

Because he's going to humble himself and announce his poor choices over the years while under vows right now in the spotlight?

I highly doubt that - would be a great thing for him to do if he actually wants to take the steps to reconcile and make everything right, but it's not looking like that is the path he wants to take.

If I understand correctly from previous SOLT statements they allowed him to own some possessions that he could use to carry out his ministry of preaching. Included in that was his home with the security. But when they did the investigation they were not aware of numerous luxury vehicles, a boat dock, ATV and other things.

They called him back to community and issues a pastoral statement a few weeks ago. His response was to leave the order rather than obey. Then he basically did all the odd Black Sheepdog things and started calling Bishops and superiors delusion oxygen thieves and saying he was railroaded and denied his rights.

So they released their statement today with the details of the proper investigation they have conducted.

in previous months he saw how it was heading and filed a civil suit against the accuser to prevent the order from dealing with her so he could stall the end of the investigation where it would be made public then left the priesthood so he could maintain his opulent lifestyle and continue to "teach" where be basically ranted and lied. And that is what led to the statement by his order today.

He has duped many people and needs our prayers. People must not confuse the man with the message. His message was good, but he, like all of us, is flawed.

Link is here, LinexUser.

8-O Wow! Thank you for the link! If this gets me baned so be it. He is one hypocrite. He, as he often said, isn't going to hell for you or me. Apparently he is capable of doing so all on his own. So sad. Go your way Mr. Corapi. And don't let the door hit ya....

Here is the actual SOLT release. (sry for redundancy) It was verified and put back up on The Deacon's Bench site this morning not long after it was taken down.

SOLT News: Press Release Concerning Fr John Corapi from SOLT Regional Priest Servant

From the last line of the official SOLT statement;

Father Sheehan will not be available for comments as he is attending the SOLT General Chapter from July 5-23.

One basically now has the choice of either believing the SOLT statement that he is guilty or John Corapi over his superiors.

I do not think he is being railroaded by the SOLT.

"assumed guilt" tag replaced with "solt statement".

Sounds like the bigwigs at SOLT are running away not wanting to get questions. No I don't believe them at this point and it still is assumed guilt and lies about a holy man

Even though Corapi deliberately postured to stop the investigation and resigned from the priesthood so that this accusation will never be brought to the light of day?

Are you saying the "SOLT formed three person fact-finding team" are lying or are just wrong in their conclusion?

"The team included a priest-canonist, a psychiatrist, and a lawyer. Two were members of religious orders, and one was a lay Catholic. Two were men, and one was a woman. All three have national reputations and substantial experience in ecclesiastical processes related to priest disciplinary issues."

The SOLT say:

SOLT's fact-finding team has acquired information from Fr. Corapi's e-mails, various witnesses, and public sources that, together, state that, during his years of public ministry:

This statement by the SOLT pretty much squashes my hope for his innocence.

I was among the first to defend him from rash judgements, and to hold out hope of his innocense, but it adds up now.

Regardless of the credibility of either party, I can still hold out hope for his soul, no matter who has sinned here.

Well I doubt that will ever happen. He is calling Bishops Delusional Oxygen Thieves. And proclaiming himself a sheep dog while attacking the shepherds. Not really someone who is likely to admit what the evidence his order has proves.

A broad brush. He said some were not all and I agree with him. From one of the sheep the blacksheepdog watches over

He says lots of things. And his order has determined most of them to be lies; which when you put together a timeline is pretty obvious.

And he has no authority as a "sheep dog" you are a sheep to your Bishop and valid priests who are in ministry. Which is not John Corapi. He is as much a sheepdog as Marcial Maciel. Who also had people defending him against all the evidence.

He also offered the accuser 100,000 for her silence. That's documented and reported by CNS: link And he has all these people with legal agreements of silence about his personal life. Interesting actions. And people may want to say that is for his own protection as a public figure...but he refuses to release them to talk to the order. And even without that the SOLT was still able to find out enough to give the report that includes prostitutes, drugs and abuses of his vow of poverty.

Everyone makes mistakes. But if he persists in them while misleading the faithful until they are no longer faithful to the Church but to John Corapi instead...God have mercy on his soul. He will lead many away for the glorification of his own ego.

Have we really learned so little, over the past decade, about how we should respond to charges of priestly misconduct?

It seems to me that SOLT is somewhat culpable in all this mess. Corapi claimed to be a fully professed priest with SOLT. He obviously was exempt from the vow of poverty & he was allowed to live independently. I thought this was a society of men who lived together as community. To hold each other accountable & work under supervision. This obviously was not the case with Corapi. Why? Does this not also put a somewhat negative light on SOLT also?
