Joab. . there is a higher calling we are called to when wronged.

Jesus' words are clear. There is nothing to mistake.

And there is no mistaking the words of our First Pope on the matter which are no less than scripture themsevles:

1 Peter 2:

19For it is commendable if a man bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God. 20 But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. 21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.
22 “He committed no sin,
and no deceit was found in his mouth.”e
23When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. 24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.

This is how we are called to PERSONALLY respond to injustices towards ourselves.

THIS is the teaching of the Church regarding the pesronal experience of personal injustices against our own person.

Facts are not assumptions. His own words are there for everyone to see. He calumized the Bishops accusing them of mal intent among other things.

Actually I meant to back up to the beginning to see where it all began and who started it. It wasn't Fr. Corapi as far as we know so thats an assumption.

Those are the facts that are being assumed as something else. Always have by some people it seems as he was assumed guilty from the start.

You do know calumny is a lie right? I see no lies there in his quote. Its all true enough.

I'll wait until the SOLT accept his resignation.

For me the fact that speaks the loudest is that he now starts his own ministry and is leaving the priesthood in order to do it calling himself "black sheep dog" and acting like his vocation was basically a means to celebrity that can be cast aside.

I have reserved opinion on this but this action makes me think he is more concerned with celebrity and has some pride issues.

This makes none of his previous message that was from the Truth of Christ wrong. But it does show the dangers of thinking that people are here for you when they are responding to the message of Christ. He could make a rock preach gold, there should be no pride in ourselves for the gift of spreading His word. And this action by John Corapi makes me worry seriously about the man's pride. Reading his statement was like reading a manifesto.

John's resignation doesn't look good for him. In fact, it makes him look guilty. So he saves face by resigning and goes off to do his own thing. However, it doesn't mean he's guilty.

No but, and this may be in my own human weakness, but it means to me that his vocation is secondary to his celebrity; or at least this makes it seem that way. That's just how I feel after reading what he wrote and the whole "black sheep dog" thing. I would not abandon my marriage on a false accusation so his abandonment of the priesthood when Christ is still faithful to him no matter what, hits a bad chord with me.

here is something to take into consideration

he mentioned that his bishop threatened to release the letter, that could have been bad for book sales

so by quiting he basically frees himself to sue not to have that letter made public

and no, father corapi caused all this drama- did it in a nine minute video promoting his book and claiming he is going to minister to the entire world and calling himself the black sheep dog

all he has to do is take a drug test (duh)

He does not appear to be leaving the priesthood, but pending juridical action, it appears he will be suspended indefinitely.

To clarify, Fr. Corapi is not part of a Religious Order, but a Society of Apostolic Life. He never took a vow of poverty, thus I see no problem with him making money by forming a media company with his superior's permission.

Seriously? It's been three months since the allegations. If he was innocent he would not have abandoned the Eucharist. An innocent man wouldn't leave his vocation to the Holy Priesthood to start a new radio show and release a bibliography.

That's not necessarily true, but this stunt does make him look like he's really in it more for the money than the ministry.

Edit: to further explain why it's "not necessarily true," consider the following statement: "The only people who want privacy are the ones with something to hide." It's the same fallacy in both cases.

He does not appear to be seeking laicization.

There are many within the Catholic Church that need to repent for many things, myself included. But let us remember that the Church is the bride of Christ and guided by the Holy Spirit, thus "The Catholic Church" does not need to repent, it needs to be followed.

And his announcement syncs with, according to him the imminent release of his autobiography. It just all looks bad for him, refusing to rejoin his community but decide to remain on his ranch in Montana, leaving the priesthood and making the announcement of his new business and similarly named autobiography (which is going to be immanent) kind of shows that although he has been undergoing this investigation for three months...you don't just pull a book out of thin air as well as a new company. So the announcement has been planned for some time.

It just strikes me as an odd and ill chosen series of moves. Prayers for all involved, it is all just odd.
