  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I guess I'm the only person in the world who didn't like it. I got chokey at the beginning just because the whole subplot about not being able to have kids hit a nerve for me... But overall I found the movie just not really that good. Doug made me laugh with some of his lines as did some of the dogs, but "Up" did nothing for me.

Of all the animated movies last year the one that I really enjoyed was "Coraline." Overall I thought the story was better and while the advances to the world of animation were more prevelant with that movie, it wasn't as smooth and polished as Pixar. Like the movies or not, you can't deny they are the best at what they do in terms of animation.

Yeah, my husband teared up when he looked through Elli's book and noticed there was something past the page he usually stopped on. So he kept looking and she had filled in the rest of the book and left a note saying thank you for being my adventure now go have your own! We both lost it.

I completely lost it when Carl was looking through the book... and then I had to watch it again because DH fell asleep before that part and couldn't understand why I was crying and I was too far gone to explain it to him LOL

I cried within the first 10 mins over a scene. I won't give it away. I found this film not for children as they would not understand that deepness. I cried during the scene mentioned above too. Seemed almost too much and then of course I began to think of my Dad,cried harder. My teens cried! Okay so we are not alone.

So, my husband and I watched Up for the first time on Saturday. Did this movie make anyone else cry? We boohoo'd through the whole movie! Or I did, he teared up about halfway through.

I have not seen this movie. Nor do I intend to. Still, I wonder. Why is this movie sad?!

I saw this a couple weeks ago. I didn't tear up or even get close but I did like it A LOT. I mean there was a lot of stuff I didn't care for but it was made for kids and wasn't meant to be a 100% serious movie. I didn't care for the talking dogs, the villain subplot, and the whole bird thing...

But there were many moments in it I appreciated greatly! And I liked that they had him "put the past" behind him and he was still able to have a nice life after. One of my favorite animated movies I think... I was not expecting to care for it much. I'm not a pixar fan by any means and this is the only Pixar movie I'd even consider buying.

It starts with a young Karl, the main character, meeting his future wife. By the time the story actually starts, he and she get married, make all sorts of plans for their life together, grow old, and she dies before they actually do any of the things they planned; most notably have any children, because they discover that she cannot concieve.

This is all shown in a dialogue-free montage in the first ten minutes of the film, and the emotional thread started by it runs strong through the rest of the story. It was very well done in my opinion.
