One of my pet peeves about Christian forums is when people talk about other people as "unsaved." How do we know if someone is saved or unsaved? Shall we make these judgements based on the words of Jesus? Well, which words shall we use? Are you saved if you believe in Christ and accept him as your savior, as scripture supports? Are you saved if you feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the sick, as scripture supports? Are you unsaved if you don't do one or both of these things? Are you unsaved if you are lukewarm, as scripture supports? No one is saved except through Jesus, but does this mean that you have to believe in him while you're still alive? What if you've never heard of him? Or could it just mean that everyone who goes to heaven does so because of the price Jesus paid for us all? Is it that one must eat his body and drink his blood or he will have no life within him? How can I be sure which of the people I know are saved and which ones are unsaved? Wait, now I'm remembering something that's making it clear..."Judge not." Only God knows the hearts of men, and only he knows the destination of our souls. It's pretty tough to say that people who do this or don't do that are going to hell without making the connection that Mr. X does this or doesn't do that so he's going to hell. All we should do is pray for people, which will never do anyone any harm, and be the best person we can be. Would you like it if people referred to you as unsaved? Just try to love everybody!

Unsaved is unsaved?

But . . .It is so easy to become saved? You don't have to do a bunch of good stuff, because it has nothing to do with doing good things.

Becoming saved is a gift, Rather than a chore. Becoming saved has nothing to do with becoming a Christian or joining a Church.

It is not a Christian's job to judge a person's salvation. By labeling someone as unsaved is initself a judgement passed by the nature of someone's actions. Actions do speak louder than words, but all have the chance for forgiveness. I am a Christian, but guess what I am not perfect. I screw up. Sometimes my actions wouldn't be considered as Christian. Sometimes I get angry and take my frustration out on others. Sometimes I curse. Sometimes I judge others on their outward apperance, and by their actions. But, ya know I ask God for forgiveness. I ask Him to give me the strength to control my emotions. I ask Him to place His hand on my heart and guide me in the footsteps of Christ. I make a conscience effort to repent of my wicked ways. I ask God to help me. I do my best to refrain from hurting others, and if I do I seek the forgiveness of God as well as the person I hurt. I try to the best of my ability to modify my behavior b/c I want a close relationship with God. God is answering my prayers, and giving me strength every day. But, unlike Him I am not perfect, and therefore a sinner. I have enough sins of which I am guilty. I tremble at the notion of being judged by the things I accuse others for. I am also trying to spread the word of God as He wishes for His followers. I am trying to reveal His gospel to anyone who will hear. I have found that the best way to accomplish this is in a loving way, and not in a way that judges the actions of others. All humans are the children of God, and the job of His followers is to bring the truth of His love to all. Not to judge their ultimate salvation.

I don't know what a better term would be, but calling those people unsaved implies that they are going to hell for not accepting Christ, doesn't it? Perhaps, non-christians would be better. If you're talking about people who consider themselves Christians, then it's not anyone's place to judge them unsaved by their actions or words.

Greetings Childogg77,
I wonder if you are aware that we are saved by GRACE and that of GODs own doing, mankind can do nothing.
We are called to be witnesses to the world, so that we by our actions can show that if God loves us so much that He would come and die on the Cross of Calvary for such wretches like you and me, then the Almighty MUST love us with a mighty Love. That love is a saving love, we are the same as any other, we are sinners but saved by grace. Thankyou Lord.
That love that God has is for all people, saved or not.
SHALOM
P/s It has been said that christions only become saints when they die, while they live they can only act saintly.

Well said, but there is no hope except through Jesus Christ, we all sin and fall short of the glory of God. We will work the rest of our lives trying to follow Christ lead as we attempt to remove sin from our daily lives. But acting like Christ, doesn't make you a Christian. Only by believing in him and what he did, makes you a Christian.

Being saved is something everyone should consider first, before they work on being good. Also talking here and refering to people as unsaved is one thing, but most people wouldn't walk up to someone and called them unsaved right off the bat.
