Unknown Artists

I don't like a lot of CCM. I think that it isn't quality and/or it is not induced by God. I do, however, know of quite a few "underground" or "emerging" artists who are excellent musicians AND speak the truths of God, but nobody else knows/talks about.

1. Anathallo
I love these guys. They are Christlike and Spirit-filled, and their performance shows. They keep the show centered on God, and their musicianship is nothing short of amazing. They're on Selah Records if you want to check them out.

2. Madison Greene
Think the dancers mad, these guys know how to rock and call out the Spirit of a Holy God. They are great musicians, relying mostly on tribal music and acoustic instruments.

3. Andrew Osenga (of The Normals)/Derek Webb (of Caedmon's Call)/Steven Delopoulos (of Burlap to Cashmere)
Yes, none of these guys are in CCM these days. Their music is exquisite and lyrics profound.

4. Over the Rhine/Pedro the Lion
These bands are out in the world of indie, and singing songs about life and faith. Very talented, and lyrically deep. Awesome stuff.

As noted in another thread... redeemed out of NC is probably the most directly doctrinal and gospel-oriented CCM band that I know of... all with quite hip musicianship!

the best "unknown bands" are local bands ...even when "local" is a few states away.
Recently I found a band named: Abbington - www.abbingtonmusic.com. They're good at what they do.

I love anathallo there are some of the most origional music i've ever heard and there live shows are amazing

Pedro the Lion is also amazing, They have the most deepest lyrics i've ever heard and the way he makes each song tie into the next to make a complex story about life that a christian can relate too is so incredable

God is truly blessing them greatly

The Danielson Family ...I saw them in concert. Yes, there's none other like them. I've heard their music before too, but the concert really just proves that they'll never be matched. Amazing, truely amazing.

...Although, I can't say how much of a good or bad thing that is.

My favorite emerging christian rock band is Spirit Creek. They are out of Milwaukee and are playing at the RAVE with POD on May 8th and Better than Ezra on May 1st. You can do a web search to find their website...there you can download music and read lyrics.

I agree, the Discarded is a good band, that's not very well known.
