  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm not from Australia, but have been completly enthralled with the country since as long as I can remember. I'm really interested in going there for college, I plan to major in music...but i have no idea where to begin looking. .: lost :. I'm not picky. I'd love to look into any school in any area. Any suggestions would be well appreciated.

i think you need to decide what area of music do you want to study - performance (and decide on an instrument) , classroom music, instrumental pedagodgy, music technology, musicology, compostition, conducting, contemporary music, jazz etc etc

in Brisbane, Queensland there is:
Qld conservatorium of music - griffith uni
The university of qld
queensland university of technology (they specialise more in contemporary music and music education)

and smaller universitys in regional qld such as USQ - uni of southern qld, james cook university have music degrees as well

That music conservatorium are filled with (worldly-recognised)gifted people...

They're the sort of people(#Coff Coff#Freaks#Coff Coff#...lol...kiddin...I'm just jealous) that either finished their HSC in yr 6 or they didn't do any study in yr12 yet still got a 100.00 in their UAI, and they're doing music because they know they can succeed in anything...and one day end up earning heaps of money as a CEO or as a Chancellor of some highgrade university.

Some of them go to the Anglican church, and they're very nice and bright but I don't hang around them...but they are very intelligent people....#CoffCoff#FREAKS#CoffCoff#

Come to WA!!! The University of Western Australia is a well known university with a great reputation throughout the world. It also has a great music program. I used to walk past the room where they all practiced and it sounded amazing! They had all sorts of concerts and things

Speaking of music, even though I picked up the dizi several years back and self taught the sounds and techniques based on chinese music...

But I personally don't like it, when people say...Oh I like all that cultural stuff....

It's almost like an insult, to say that the dizi or any other chinese musical instrument is not a serious and complex instrument.

For anyone who has heard a dizi, they either like it or they don't...just like a violin, some people like it, others don't...they both have a scretching noise and both are hard and specialised instruments.

If you ask serious musicians, whom have understood the true nature of Chinese instruments, they could argue that if you play the dizi, you can never play the european flute properley nor professionally again.

But there are some muso's that think the dizi is just another of those cultural music just to relax upon.....GRRRR
