  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi everyone,

I don't know where this post fit in so im posting it here.
I really do like the unity church but want to find out the truth about this type of Christian church. Ive heard that its a false religion and a cult but every time i find something that i finally fit into its bad and not good for me :(

Thanks
Lu

I don't know much about Unity church, but "only finding things that are bad for you" could be a problem. If so, rather than ask man's opinion though, try to ask God what to do next.

Every denomination has people calling it bad names, saying bad things about it.

Well, my post probably doesn't help much, so I'll step aside and let others post their opinions too.

Unity is part of the New Thought movement, which emphasizes positive thinking and affirmations to create the life you want. They deny the divinity of Jesus, rather stating we all have the Divine within us, and see Jesus as a "way shower." They believe there is no such thing as evil, since God is all and in all, and God is the only power. I've attended a Unity church a few times and they don't mention Jesus a lot.

Right. It's kinda like Christian Science (which is considered to be a cult) but the founders were not quite as theologically spooky as Mary Baker Eddy.
