What predominately shaped the universe into what it is today?
Both have been active throughout the history of the universe, so one can't say that either has predominated in shaping the universe. However, as Ibanezer Scrooge points out, natural catastrophes, such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and asteroid impacts happen as a result of uniformitarian processes. So far as I know, there is no evidence for supernatural catastrophes.

You take your spell checker to lunch?*

Re your poll, the answer is, predominantly shaped by catastrophic events that, over geological and astronomical time periods, acquire a uniformity of character. i.e. ,as asked the answer can be - and is - both.
