12 "Now, therefore," says the Lord, "Turn to Me with all your heart, With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning." 13 So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the Lord your God, For He is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm. Thank you for bringing us the Word.

Deadbeat, If you're out there...Last night I was tired and didn't answer you appropriately, so please forgive me.

Fasting helps release the power of the Spirit in our lives and it facilitates the freer flow of the Holy Spirit through you by revealing the garbage in your life that He wants gone. This is challenging because it makes you very uncomfortable seeing things you never thought existed in your heart.

If you submit your will to the Lord in a life that's committed to prayer and fasting His anointing will begin to flow through you in ways you never could expect.

This is a great resource: "The Hidden Power of Prayer and Fasting" by Mahesh Chavda. ISBN 0-7684-2017-2. I give it 5 stars.

If you want to keep going with the discussion, please reply. If not, take care and may God Bless you and keep you today and always.

I did very well cupbearer. I did some spiritual breathing and sin confessing. Read some psalms and was moved. Prayed for strength and for you all also. I just focused on the Lord and I really wasn't bothered much by hunger or thirst. I hardly noticed it and in fact I substituted it for hunger and thirst for righteousness. It's a spiritual discipline and I read it's the toughest and that Satan doesn't want us to fast because it helps us mature spiritually. Good experience.

I'm going to continue on this fast to see how strong spiritually I am and get even closer to God. Hopefully I come out of it stronger and more mature in Christ.

May the Lord's peace be with you all.

Deadbeat-Great! Thank you for keeping me in prayer. I really appreciate it. I am fasting through the week and will keep you lifted up as well. Please let me know if you have any questions or want to reflect on the experience. You will receive revelation from God and it is very very interesting.

Greetings,

I'm extremely sorry for not updating you all on what I experienced during my fast. First of all, I would like to thank everyone for theirs prayers because without them I don't think I could have made it. Before I begin I strongly recommend ANYONE who wants to try this to do so. You are reading this for a reason, God has put you hear to learn, and it's times like those that you have to say to God "Lord, I don't understand what it is you want me to do here, or learn but Father I want you to know that I am willing and though I'm not able to do it own my own, I know I can do it with Christ, do with me as you will" and guess what? HE WILL DO EXACTLY THAT! you may not think He will, but God works in ways that we can NEVER understand and or THINK. I'm often reminded of the verse that says "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts"

God spoke to me on several occasions to reveal certain things to me in my fast. I was recently being discouraged because God had not answered a prayer of mind that was completely within his will that I had not recieved. During the fast the Lord brought up that petition. At first I was like, "What are you trying to say to me Lord?" then as I let my soul be quiet and take the time to LISTEN, He revealed it to me and this is what He said, "My son, as with the way of salvation, so is the way of prayer. You must first have your heart prepared, before you ask anything from me" I started crying as I felt the arms of God wrap around me and give me the biggest hug with the Holy Spirit I have felt in a long time.

You see, when men and women fasted in the Bible it was a way of afflicting their soul, to deny themselves,to prepare their hearts and to draw closer to God. To make themselves, completely humble, depended upon God, to make themselves hit "rock bottom". When we are at our weakest, we are at our strongest in Christ. When we have no one else to turn to except Christ, we are the most powerful human beings on this earth, because it's not that we are weak, but we are strong through Christ and that's what the relationship is all about.

I thank you all and I love you all so much. I greatly encourage you to fast for the Lord, don't let the thoughts of "What if I cant not eat the whole day?" at least missing one meal is showing that you are doing the best you can. And when that happens, God's works. "When man does all that is possible, God takes care of the impossible"

Grace of the Lord be to all of you,
Matt

CABL,
I receive your words as from the Lord. I will keep them at the depth of my soul so that when I lose sight of the Lord, I will remember your words and draw near to the Lord in prayer and fasting.

The Lord has truly blessed us who joined in spirit in fasting. You learned much from the Lord, and I from you.

Now, after this experience, I am more anxious to hear from Tappanga for another call for fasting and prayer. Since it is the National Prayer Day, the Lord will be even more glad and give large measures of grace.

Here is the message from the Lord through Larry:
"Now, therefore," says the Lord, "Turn to Me with all your heart, With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning." 13 So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the Lord your God, For He is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm. (Joel 2:12-13)

Amen. His will be done among us.

DeadBeat,
Thank you for sharing the treasure you received from the Lord. I am going to print it out and keep it in my journal so that I can re-read it whenever I need to.
(Honestly, I wish your name was LiveBeat. :) There must be a good reason though.)

Iktca,

I just wanted to comment on that verse that you just quoted, notice the order "turn to me . . . all your heart . . . WITH FASTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Amen! Praise be to the Lamb of God. That verse tells you exactly what the Lord told me. You prepare your heart, with FASTING, WEEPING, and MOURNING!!!! Exactly what the Lord used in me.

I almost was about to stop on my second day absolute fast (food and liquid) but like the bible says go the extra mile. I couldn't sleep the second day so I'm going into my 3rd day not having slept and I feel very much awake. The lord indeed strengthens my spirit. He is the bread of life and has rivers of living water in him. Eat and drink of him and be filled. He who exalts himself shall be humbled and he who humbles himself shall be exalted. This is fun!

May God bless you and prosper your spirit.

Deadbeat,

I applaude your fasting and say that it is truly of the Lord. I agree with everything you said not because it suits my opinions, but because it is the word of the Lord. And the Lord is truth. Bless you! and may God let your light shine to even the darkest places in this earth.

Matt
