They lived daily (as written) "in union" with one another and with Jesus and the Father.
Not seen too often since then. Often not seen at all by some or most people.

Why not do as they do/did, as written ?

Presumably Orthodox would retain the liturgy if they agreed with Rome and vice versa since there shouldn't be a problem with retaining respective liturgies as the same sort of thing existed before the schism (though it was a point of contention).

One side has to give up it's pretensions which would then allow reconciliation with the other. Neither side will though.
