Unforgiveable Sin

I was troubled by this passage at one time also. There is an alternate translation for it that states "...WHILE they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh,... In place of "since or because they crucify afresh"

That makes it a little more consistant with other passages. If I remember correctly he was talking to people who were reverting back to jewish traditions and sacrifices to attone for their sins. Paul was simply telling them that since a one-time sacrifice was made already in Christ Jesus, there is no longer any acceptable sacrifice to give. As long as they continued in their rituals instead of staying with faith in Jesus alone for forgiveness, they could only await a fearful expectation of death and judgment. That is what is meant by "there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins." It is because Jesus was the one-time sin offering. Glory be unto God for that - AMEN!

I think sbbqb7n16 hits the nail on the head right here. If you had truly commited the unpardonable sin, you would not have reached the point where you are now. God would have ceased to convict you, and let's face it, without conviction, none of us would have become Christians.
Satan would certainly like to use this thought to throw guilt and doubt into your life. I know that when I first became a Christian, that he would make me feel guilty about things in the past or things that had no bearing on my salvation, until often I was in a depressed state, thinking, I'm not good enough to do this. Well guess what? I'm not good enough, but God is, so it doesn't matter. Sorry for rambling, but I've been there, done that, so I know how it feels.
