UNDERSTANDING
JANUARY 15, 2005
Unto the Church of God and all who are called to be saints of Christ: All Hail: Is it well with thee? I am well in the understanding of the gospel appointed unto men from the throne of God. May the Most High God and the Lord Jesus Christ heal and comfort the sick and shut-in: and may we all receive the spiritual understanding bestowed upon the true saints of the Amen, the Faithful and True witness, the beginning of the creation of God, the Light Christ Jesus.
To the seed of the European, and the Indian, and the Asian, and the African, and the Latino, and the Arab, and the Jew: I pray for you all in the love of you all: Be not deceived by the tricks of men, who use their own words to deceive many; quoting Scriptures from various versions of the Holy Bible save the authorized king James; and contradicting the words of the New Testament with words from the Old; and contradicting the words of Jesus Christ with the words of an apostle: for these are the many thrust into the dunghill of lies and confusion because of their wayward understanding. But let us reason with one another: for if I say the New Testament is greater than the Old and the red letters of Jesus Christ is above all, is this my own words and my own understanding? Do I need Scripture to prove that it is not? Is our common sense alone not enough? Surely we do not need Scripture to prove that the New Testament is greater than the Old and that the red letters of Jesus Christ is greater than them all. For by reason of our common sense we know that the New Testament is greater than the Old because it is the blood of Jesus Christ: and by reason of our common sense we know that the red letters of Jesus Christ is greater than them all because He say, No man can come unto the Father but by Him. But that men might know that we who are the true saints of God lean not into our own understanding at no time, the Almighty has left us with written proof of His spiritual knowledge, that we might show the world that the common sense of a saint is the same as the written word of God: for is it not written in Ephesians 2: 19-22: Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit. So if we, being both Jews and Gentiles in the love of Jesus Christ are joined together in the holy temple of God, then we are built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Jesus Christ testimony as the chief. Is that not what those Scriptures say? How then can we be led away by a persuasive tongue? Surely it is only those that are without this understanding that can be led astray. And for those that are gone astray, we are sent to gather them back, that, they might come from out of the clouds that eclipse truth. But pride and high-mindedness has overcome many, to engulf their heart and blind their eyes with the irreverent words that we are taking the Scriptures out of context. Yea for sure those words are the rallying cry for them that love the way of spiritual darkness they call light. But we are not like them, to listen to the words of a man, or a woman, but the voice of truth. For the voice of truth speaks according to the written word of God: but many have fallen into darken understanding by reason of the multiple versions of the Holy Scriptures that the minions of Satan has put forth in the name of making the Scriptures easier to read; but have cunningly altered the meaning of the words from the original tongue, that good hearts might be deceived in the name of good intentions; because Satan has surely paved the road to hell with good intentions.
Dear brothers and sisters of mine: There are many that believe spiritual understanding come to anyone that call upon the name of the Holy Ghost: but such is not the fullness of the truth as whosoever call on the name of the Lord is not the fullness of the truth. For the fullness of the truth come by the mouth of one only, which are the red letters of Jesus Christ. Though it is written in Scripture, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved (Acts 2:21); it is also written from the mouth of our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven (St. Matthew 7:21). Now, have I taken those words of Jesus Christ out of context? I have not: for it is clearly written if we continue reading the next two verses: Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Is this not clear Scripture, and with its own explanation? But many ignore those words from the mouth of Jesus Christ to place the words of Acts above Him. Why? Have we not determined that the red letters of Jesus Christ supersede all others? But even still, is there a contradiction between St. Matthew 7:21 and Acts 2:21? God forbid: there are no contradictions in the Holy Scriptures regardless of the differences in Scripture that men might show: for if they were of the full understanding given by our Lord Jesus Christ to Search the scriptures (St. John 5:39), they would learn before ending their search that the apostles were made able ministers of the New Testament according to the spirit and not the letter of the testament (II Corinthians 3:6); because the apostles were sent to bring grace (the spirit of the new testament) and not judgment (the letter of the new testament), because vengeance is Mine saith the Lord. Now is this my own understanding or Scripture? I let you be the judge: and I pray you judge with righteous judgment. And if one should say, Jesus said, Judge not that you be not judged: forget not that He also said, Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment (St. John 7:24).
Now do we need to study the meaning of letter according to Scripture to receive understanding of the word letter? Verily we should because it is relevant to the testimony of this sermon: Thus we know that the apostles preached forgiveness through the grace of Jesus Christ, that, the people be not subject to the letter (which is the strictness of the law and death for sinners according to the Old Testament), but receive the newness of spirit as it is written in Romans 7:6: But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter. For many their understanding of this Scripture is that the saints are no longer subject to the laws of Moses: but in finding the fullness of understanding have we not determined that the words of Jesus Christ Himself supersede all understanding. For what say Christ our Lord: Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled (St. Matthew 5:17-18). Did you hear that? Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Beloved: have I spoken anything in the Church of God that our Lord Jesus Christ did not speak? God forbid: for I am His servant: and can only speak His words: for I am of Him: and sent by Him; to guide you into all truth and understanding; and to show you the things to come according to His testimony.
Now if there are any that say, Jesus changed his testimony when he rose from the dead: Let us study that claim. Now Jesus did say, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel (St. Matthew 15:24). And He did command His disciples before he was crucified, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel (St. Matthew 10:5-6). But when He rose from the dead He commanded them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen (St. Matthew 28:18-20). Now there appear to be a change of mind from the words before His crucifixion and the words after He rose from the dead: so what is the understanding of this? Let us find it by the only viable means, which is our search of the Scriptures: By evidence of the written word of Jesus Christ, when He walked among us in flesh, His testimony was for the Jews only; such is why He said to the Gentile woman that cried after Him (St. Matthew 15:21-23), I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel; and why He sent His disciples not in the way of the Gentiles (St. Matthew 10:5). So what brought about the change? Was it that the Jews denied Jesus and put His blood on them and their children (St. Matthew 27:25), as many believe by reason of that Scripture? Nay: for is it not written: Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever (Hebrews 13:8). So Jesus did not, has not, and will not change: but was lifted up into His perfection, which came not before His crucifixion, but after: such is why there appear to be a change of mind after Jesus rose from the dead; but actually there was the opening of another door (Revelation 3:8); because Jesus was not yet perfected until the third day. Now is that my own understanding? Verily it is not: for what say Jesus Christ Himself: Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected (St. Luke 13:32). Yea for sure the fox shall attempt to read other than what is written; and explain other than what is meant; that he might capture one. But if one is true in heart and mind, the voice of truth shall come upon him, and he shall hear and accept the knowledge of the truth, which is not found in our own understanding, but the written Scriptures.
Verily I say unto you all that there is much searching of the Scriptures to be done before one can receive the fullness of understanding Gods word: for many are confident that they know the way when they do not; because they do not have understanding of the Scriptures according to the spirit and letter of the New Testament, which are the red letters of Jesus Christ. One must know the whole story to understand the meaning and purpose of things; even to the purpose of Paul, a Hebrew and Pharisee (Philippians 3:5), who persecuted the believing Jews in the church of God; yet was sent to teach to the unbelieving Jews from which he came and to the Gentiles according to as it is written in Scripture: And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. But arise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I appear unto thee; Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me (Acts 26:15-18). But many believe by reason of their understanding that Galatians 1:13, where Paul writes, For ye heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it, is Scriptural evidence that Christ is no longer affiliated with the Jews religion. But we know by reason of Scripture that Christ is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow: moreover Paul writes, For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek (Romans 1:16). Surely the church of Christ began as a congregation of believing Jews: for every disciple of Jesus Christ was a Jew: even Paul called to teach the Gentiles. And why would Paul, when known as Saul, a Pharisee, persecute a church unless the members were Jews professing the New Testament? In all understanding let us also apply our common sense: for the common sense of one born of God is a great thing.
