understanding truth

Hey everyone, its been a while since I last posted a thread. I have a question for all that has time to answer. The Bible says that the natural man cannot receive the things of God, so in your opinion what are the things of God that the natural man cannot receive. I battle whether I'm truly a born again christian because I have trust problems that I can't seem to overcome so I find myself reading the Word to find proof that the Spirit is indeed within me. Any help would be appreciated.

Well, kicker, I think it simply means that people who are not born again find it difficult to relate to and understand certain spiritual matters. Not that they can't understand them to a point, but in a sense till you come to Christ, certain things just don't make sense to you. Not that even VERY spiritual people understand everything! They don't.

I don't feel like I'm explaining what I mean very well here. But let me see if I can give an example. Have you ever done something or not done something based on what the Bible says about it? And maybe your non-Christian friends or buddies just didn't "get" why you chose to do or not do what you did? For a more concrete example, try telling people in a non-Christian forum or other real life setting that you don't believe that unmarried people should be in sexual relationships. See what their reaction is. And you can try to explain it over and over again that your convictions are based on the Word of God and some may respect you for it, but overall, they generally just won't "get it." Does this make sense?

I post sometimes on another forum, not CF, and there is a religion section there. I learned from that experience how hard it is sometimes to get someone who is not born again to understand a spiritual principle that to a Christian seems pretty elementary...even if said unbeliever is sincere and not just trolling. Does this make sense?

I think the kind of thing you are dealing with is not what this scripture is referring to. I think it sounds like your issues are OCD issues possibly. In other words, it sounds like your problem is on a mental level, not a spiritual level if you know what I mean.

Doubt only makes faith stronger.

Think about it, if you are 100% sure than you are saying you know you are right. But if you doubt, you are saying I don't know but I still believe. IMO that is true faith...
