For a long time i've been mostly into only Christian Rock and Christian rap and r&b as well. But now since i've been listening to Christianhardrock.net there website i've been listening to some great harder Christian sounding music and i'm likeing it belive it or not :) . so today near portland at this big Christian supply store that me and my Dad always go to i picked up Underoaths new cd!. with out even knowning who underoath was so pretty much it was a big time blind buy. and i'm quit surprised i've only heard a few samples of the new cd so far that i bought but its pretty darn Good ;) .

so my Question is to anybody thats into more heavy type Christian music. what style of music would the band underoath fall under?

and my 2nd Question is

Can you members suggest anymore more heavy type Christian bands that i might like?

since i'm still very new to the whole heavy music type scene. Thanks

I was just thinking about starting an Underoath thread, then I saw this, so yay. ^_^

To answer your first question, they'd probably fall under the category of "screamo".

For your second question... if you like Underoath, you might want to check out...

Blindside

They're all good Christian bands that are sorta like Underoath. ^_^

What do you define as 'heavy music'? I can recommend the Electronic music groups I listen to, which fall under a few different styles, mainly Industrial and Alternative Dance. Just let me know and I can give a list of four or five to check out for starters.

Thanks for the suggestions. i wasn't really asking for Bands that sounded similar to underoath i was just asking for suggestions of Christian Bands that play harder and heavy type music ingeneral...... but either way i'll check out the Bands that you did suggest.

and i have Blindsides new cd already so that rules out them. But i'll check out the other three Bands

i define ''heavy music'' as Bands like Zao Living Sacrifice Project 86 etc...... bands or artists like that. since i'm still very new to the whole ''heavy music'' scene or genre since i have not listened to much ''heavy music''

Well, the bands I'm gonna suggest aren't exactly like those, but hard nonetheless. Circle of Dust, and then the two side projects that formed when Circle of Dust broke up a few years ago: Celldweller and Klank. All of them are Industrial Metal, and are all really good. They may not be quite *as hard* as those bands you listed, but they are still really intense.

Circle of Dust was Christian, and Klank was originally signed to Tooth and Nail (a large Christian rock label). Of course, both Klank and Celldweller are marketing themselves more for the mainstream, but that doesn't change how much spirituality (inspired by Christianity) is in their lyrics. They just don't want to be lumped into that category anymore.

I'm not sure if you can buy all the CDs in stores. A store like FYE music sells Circle of Dust's third CD, and I'm pretty sure they'd probably have Celldweller. I think Amazon.com has them also, so you could order the CDs from there. I know that both Klank's and Celldweller's CDs are also available through iTunes, along with a cover of the Van Halen song "I'll Wait" that Klank recorded for a tribute album.

Another artist I didn't think of before is Laing. The record company has a free mp3 of one of his songs on their website, www.flamingfish.com/audio that you can download, and his CD is also available through iTunes or. Also really good. His website is here, and on the lyrics page it provides some samples of his music. Flaming Fish music is a Christian record label that specializes in the Electronic and Darkwave music genres, so that might be something to look into also.
