  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Now, this post is not about my personal beliefs its just a question i had on my mind. We all know that the bible says god defeated the devil, forced him into hell showing how god was stronger, etc etc. But ive always wondered why people never assume that the devil could ever gain more power. In a society where rooting for the underdog im suprised that this possibility is so denied by people.
Plus lets look at the #'s. Christianity is not the dominant worldwide religion so for all the godless peopel in the world and all those who do know god but sin, wouldnt this be a nice boost for the devil?

Again- no personal beliefs expressed, just asking a ? :)

A good question, to which I must add, if the Devil is to seperate man fron God, would that mean that people who are no Chistian would be (by the work of the Devil) be separated from their belief of a God (or of Gods, or other)?

Ok, have you ever heard the Bible? Te Bible is not a fanatsy where he who has the most followers wins... You see God is God, and is the Lord over all, neither is the servent greater then his master.... The devil cannot gain more power through any level. he showed the most before he sinned, and now he has been weakened (not to mention the fact that he's already defeated)... But i guess this would be the arguement of the unlearned.. Go back and read the Bible, then post again..

If the devil can never hope to gain enough power to win, why fight on? That merely makes it a waste of his time. Also, why is he weaker? H'es had plenty of time to recover and certainly being sent down to hell doesnt weaken him as his soul/spirit/heart (whatever) is certainly black enough that he could become master of all that evil. So, master of all evil, tempter of mankind, ruler of the ******, king of lost souls... whatever you want to call him he certainly seems to garner some amount of concern.

As to your objections with my post, your answer is "B/c God is all powerful. The end." I would ask that you try and have an open mind and then post again...

While I am sure that there are a lot of possibilities, I do strongly question the devil being looked at as an underdog to be rooted for. While we frequently root for the underdog in this society, we do so when that underdog is on the side of right. The aspect of evil versus good does tend to dampen any enthusiasm one might be tempted to feel for the devil.

Perhaps i should have been clearer in how i phrasedmy ?. the reference to rooting for the underdog was just to show that be believe that a supposedly weaker force could rise to victory. The real question was, why do people deem it so unlikely?

Thank you for bringing that to my attention :)

It pays dividends not to focus too much on our adversary. I once found a statement in Isaiah where God says something to the effect that we fear Satan so much and didn't I (God) create him?

Whatever his purpose we know that for the Christian ALL THINGS work for our good (for those that love God) So that Satan powers seem to be disabled by God's purpose in our lives.

Sometimes I wonder why God would permit a Satan to be formed just as I wonder what the purpose of letting Adam fall could have been. (maybe it was to give his children a perspective of a life or existence without God?)

In every respect we should fear (reverence) our Father in heaven who works out his good purpose in our lives in spite of the fact that Satan exists.
