  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I was brought up in a Catholic household of Sunday christians. Since going to college, I have been in contact with a lot of Protestants through bible studies. The person who actually brought me to Christ was a Protestant and until recently, I have not given much thought to the differences between the two religions because I didn't think it mattered all that much. There is something unsettling about non-Catholics not being allowed entrance to heaven which has got me asking a lot of questions. Tomorrow I have decided to introduce myself to the new priest at my church who has only been there for two weeks but whom I respect very much having only heard two sermons. Will you please pray that the truth be spoken tomorrow and that my questions would be met by real answers. Thanks all.

tndrwarrior -- Praying for you. I was raised Catholic, and have decided it is not for me, but that was my decision. If it is your decision to be Catholic (like L4G), then God bless you, have at it, and manifest the greatness God has to offer to mankind through your belief. :) :)

God will work through all of us who have honest hearts. Despite our differences, we all serve the same Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. The important thing is for you to be comfortable in your faith. May the meeting with your new priest be abundantly fruitful!! :holy:
