  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Unconditional love? Is this true?

As far as I can see, God's love is never changing, unsurpassed, unconditional and infinite! It says he loves all that he has made. The thing with Gods love and Hell, is that God is not contained by time, His love is the same always, before and after everything. So God loves a person on earth with infinite love... that love never ceases!

That is some of what i understand about the subject.

God Bless

Jamie

People who disobey and reject God, obviously do not love Him. It is not that He doesn't love them. They don't love Him. However, God's love is unconditional! He loves people whether or not they love Him. So if they do not obey His Commandments all based on love, they are not abiding in His love. They willfully and continually refuse His love, that is their choice and they will suffer the consequences.

Is God's love unconditional?
Yes.

Can this be true?
Yes.

Does he, then, love those in hell?
Yes.

I remember a scripture saying 'remain in His kindness', well, that seems like a condition. Thoughts?
I appreciate Humblebee's answer.

I would also like to add some portions of the book "At The Master's Feet" written by Sadhu Sundar Singh (simply a direct man-to-man question-and-answer session of Sadhu Sundar Singh with Lord Jesus Christ Himself sitting at His feet). This book is in the public domain at http://www.sadhusundarsingh.homestead.com/files/feet.html.

Upon a question regarding "Sin and Salvation" Lord Jesus Christ said, "Sometimes it happens that an animal or bird after long association with man returns to its own kind, but they, instead of welcoming it, set upon it and do it to death, the reason being that by its long residence and familiarity with man, its habits and manner of life have entirely changed. In the same way as animals do not admit to their society those of their kind that have come under man's influence, how can the saint and angels in heaven welcome those sinners who have lived in intimate relations with wicked men? This does not mean that saints and angels have no love for sinful men, but the holy atmosphere of heaven will itself be distasteful to such men. For clearly, when in this world sinners dislike the company of good men, how can they be happy in their company throughout eternity? To them a heaven of that sort would be as distasteful as hell itself.

Do not suppose that God or His people will turn sinners out of heaven and cast them into hell, for God who is Love, never cast anyone into hell, nor ever will do so. It is the foul life of the sinner that will bring him to hell. Long before the end of life brings heaven and hell near to us, there has been set up in every man's heart, according to his good or evil nature, his own heaven or hell. Therefore whosoever longs to be saved from that eternal torment, let him truly repent of his sins and give his heart to Me, that by My presence with him and the Holy Spirit's influence, he may become for ever a child of the kingdom of God.

A rebel against a king or government in this world may save himself by taking refuge in another country, but where shall a rebel against God flee for safety? Wherever he goes, even in heaven or hell, he will find God ever present. (Psa. cxxxix.7,8). He will find his safety only in repentance and submission to his Lord."

It intresting to see that God firstly declares him self as things like "The Almighty God"
Or "the Lord of Hosts" or "I AM"
and also declare very seriously that "I am a Holy God"
Most before he says "I am a God of love"
Yes all answers above is correct.
God loves all unconditionally.
BUT God is just! And God is incompatible with sin. So sin must be judged..
In this the AWSOME love of God can be seen in the way He has sent his only son to take this punishment for us and make a way...
Thus yes God loves all unconditionally and truly!

God loves everyone, and even that person that does not love Him. He loves all that He has made.He loves those even in Hell because He made them but the person made the choice in their life not to love Him and now suffer.

Psalm 5:4-6

For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee. The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou HATEST all workers of iniquity. Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the Lord will ABHOR the bloody and deceitful man. (emphasis mine)

doesn't sound very warm and fuzzy to me.

Yeah, thats one area of the common westernized Church that I do not agree wth. The whole "I have a warm fuzzy baby Jesus in my heart"

Jesus isnt a cute little thing I keep in a tiny box, Jesus is my Lord and Savior.

As for that sounding warm and fuzzy...? It's not! Love isnt always warm and fuzzy either! Sometimes, love hurts.

You are soooo right.

Can you imagine what it must feel like to be a part of His creation that He hates and abhors? That's gotta hurt all the time !!!

Actually, I think there are two sides to that line - on one side are the people that God hates and on the other are the people that God loves. It's up to you to decide on which side of the line you are on.

I would think that to die for all of us, God would have to love all of us. Unconditionally. It is how you respond to that invitation that decides your Fate, not the initial set up we're born into... salvation from every sin, I mean, c'mon, where is one to find a better deal? :)

to die for all of us, God would have to love all of us...yes, but with the condition that you accept Jesus as Lord (and Savior). If you refuse that condition and live as a "worker of iniquity" then God will hate you.

So, does God love everyone? No.
Is God's love unconditional? No.

John 3:16,

'For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.'

That to me sounds like everyone.
God hates evil and those who do evil, but that does not mean he does not love unconditionally. I don't think that love and hate are opposites to God. They just are two aspects of his character.
