I know this is such an unanswerable question, but something's been bothering me.. How the heck did life happen to be so that God's there? I mean, there wasn't anything there deciding that God would be there. And there was nothing to decide that God himself was worthy to be God. How did destiny just happen to be that God's there? I mean, things could've been where there was nothing existing. Can anyone picture that? But then it wouldn't be considered nothing because there'd be nothing there to say that without something there's nothing. Am I making any sense?

I do. But it says God has been here forever. He invented time, so the concept of His omnipotence is going to be confusing to us because we were born in lineage time and that's all we understand.
I wonder too what in the world God did with his time before He started creating Heaven and the angels.
Somehow I think that if we were told the answers to these awesome secrets, we wouldn't be able to understand them.

He alway was. This much he has told us. I believe one day we will know all, but for now we only know part. We still are having a hard time with the world we live in now, just wait until we see all the heavens, What a DAY that will be. Would love to know how the Sun was made, how he even made the wind to blow. No eyes have seen what God has for us in heaven or this new earth to come. He will put it all back the way it was before sin ever came.

Thats a great question. It reminds me of one I used to (and still do) ask myself... "Why isn't there nothing." Like, why does matter exist? Why does anythign exist? Why isnt there just nothing? It is a strange thought. If we try to ask why is God God, our only answer is "because He is." In fact, the meaning of Yahweh - I AM WHO AM - speaks to that. I think in heaven we will be able to know more about this question. But our human minds and out scientific instruments are limited by space and time, something which does not limit God, so we are using limited methods to try to measure (limit) the unlimitable, and it just doesn't work. :)

I personally think this is a great question, which to me only proves the existence of God. I use to think about it quite a bit, and it really use to tie my head in knots. It's the only question that puts science and our thinking ability to an end. Obviously God has put many limits on us, and this is one of them. If we knew, how could we live by faith? Without faith, how could we be tested? If we aren't tested, how could we prove ourselves? If we can't prove ourselves, where is our freewill? Since God loves us, he lets us choose.

I think it is an unanswerable question but the way I look at it is. Some people's reason for not believing in God is "well where'd He come from?"
My response to that is, "where'd matter come from?"

If someoen believes in teh big bang and evolution and whatnot, they have to believe that there always was some type of matter and that there always was a "place" for this matter to exist. Believing that this matter always existed takes just as much faith as believing that God always existed.

Either way, something ALWAYS existed beyond our ability to comprehend

There is so much wonder and awe to knowing our Creator. Not knowing everything makes us cling to Him and go to Him for life. Wondering about how God came to be puts Him in the position of a created being, but He isn't. How He is able to be the first and the last is above our comprehension for now, but when we are like Him we will know as we are known.

1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

When people ask questions like how did God get here, or things like that its just got to be understood that some things are just beyond our comprehension and that's all there is to it. If people don't believe in God they would still have to believe that matter has been here forever. Somethings been here forever. How did it get here? You're left in the same place of acknowledging that it is above your comprehension, to even come close to understand it.

all things seem to be in motion .... who started it
all things seem to be ordered / organized... who was the orchestrator
all things seem to be cause and effect ... what was the first cause ...

God

or Deuteronomy 29.29 true , but don't understand ....
need to know basis , and we , right now , don't need to know

He may not be "in" all that exists, but He takes part in all that exists. He has a plan for everything existing.

Also, my main question was why He's there, or how. Like I said though, it's probably impossible to answer.
There is NO why in the Self-Existing God. There is a Why for our existence because there is a Because. We are CONTINGENT, that is, we are but we could have not been. We are the result of God's free decision to create us. But God is ABSOLUTE. He simply IS. There is no Why as to His existence as He is unoriginated. Things that have been made have a purpose in the mind of their maker, and we have a purpose in the mind of our Maker. He has purposes, but no one purposed Him, as He is the SELF-EXISTING ONE, the great I AM ... the One who condescended to become like one of us, sin excepted, to seek and save us from our morass of sin and enemity against Him, and from our self-conceit that we can by searching find Him.

It is only by His condescendence in revealing Himself to us in Christ that we can enter into a personal relationship with Him; and that, because of us being sinners, entailed His sacrifice on our behalf ...

Cordially,

doulos
