i posted somethng similar to this in the missions section but am having no luck, so i thought I'd ask people from the UK.

I'm looking for UK based charities who send volunteers out to Africa (in particular kenya) to build schools, churches and spread the gospel. I've asked elsewhere but those replying on other forums don't understand that spreading the Word is my priority. They suggest animal conservation. I'd like this, but I think the people need Jesus. I'm not taking about full time ministry in the country...maybe go away for a month to offer help and spread the Word.

Has anyone done this and can giveme some websites? I have tried Save the Children and Oxfam as my first choices but they don't seem to be gospel orientated. I don't mind raising the whole cost, just as long as I can make a difference.

Emailed them. Also sent and email to Baptism Missionaries Society but I can't believe how hard it is to find something suitable! Charities like World Vision looks for a years experience doing charity work abroad before they'll even consider someone!
Still open to suggestions though people! Cheers!

I once worked for Oxfam for a couple of months. It was great fun! All I had to do was to serve customers at the till and keep the shop clean and tidy. Although I was not payed for doing the job, I did however gain satisfaction from the knowledge that the money that I helped to earn were given as financial aid to people in developing countries. Also, Oxfam is a big international name in charity work, so its quite a good company to have on your CV!

But 'n' ben, what you want to do has a long history behind it. People from the West have tried to spread the good word of Christianity throughout the world including Asia and Africa. You mention Kenya in particular. Perhaps you may wish to contact the Kenyan embassy in London to find out more information on how you can help the people of Kenya through a British charity. You probably have to raise money through fund raising events in order to pay for your trip or you may be able to find an UK organisation that can assist you in planning and implementing a fund raising event. Anyway good luck and let us know how you get on.
