• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I've been feeling kind of down lately. I am on medicine and it seemed to be working, but now I'm not so sure. This is really not fun.

Oh these "things" that take time...I agree ugh! :sigh:
Sometimes even on meds we can still have "down" days. I think it's just life, Ya know, like people who do not suffer with depression can have many "down" days.

I know Hon, it is NOT fun :(

Here is a useful link which shows the experiences of other people, taking Effexor. Some of them found that taking the medicine with food helped to prevent nausea. (I also noticed that some of them were taking a lower dose than 150mg.)

http://www.askapatient.com/viewrating.asp?drug=20151&name=EFFEXOR

From what I've read, Risperdal is not even needed for depression and it also has loads of side effects. If I were you, I would seek a different medical opinion. Firstly, to find out if you should take a lower dose of Effexor and secondly, to find out if you really need the Risperdal. Just my opinion.

God bless you.

P.S. PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE THE DOSE WITHOUT SEEING A DOCTOR FIRST. THE WITHDRAWAL EFFECTS MAY BE DANGEROUS.

Thanks. Yeah I know I need the risperdal without it I go into psychosis. I've been diagnosed with a lot of things, and recently started noticing symptoms of Bipolar disorder, although I haven't been diagnosed with it yet. I had a lot. The risperdal also helps with nightmares I get from PTSD and stops me from dissociating.

 Angelluv, I can relate to you a lot. I have been on 2 different psyche. meds for a long time for a couple of diagnoses. One of them is PTSD, too. I notice there are some days that are harder than others. Sometimes doing something nice for myself when I'm down helps. Like getting something special to eat or watching a good movie. I hope you feel better. Prayers for you.

I hope this Sunday morning finds you feeling even a little bit better.

How long have you been on your meds?

What I've found since I've joined this forum and read the posts in mental heath, is that there are many people suffering with bp and depression that are on meds and still suffering major downs and ups. So maybe this is just "normal" for those struggleing with these diseases??(someone correct me if I'm wrong)

Is your job stressful? Have you been eating right?
I heard once, from another sufferer, to check oneself with these questions" H.A.L.T.
H -- are you hungrey?
A -- are you angry?
L -- are you lonely?
T -- are you tired?
Questions that sometimes might explain why you are feeling the way you do.

My heart goes out to you Angelluv.
This disease can be "tough"

With  s & :prayer: s,
Wendy
