I just feel terrible. This is going to sound like the stupidest thing ever but it is very real to me. Today I was at the mall and saw a good deal on these boots I have really been wanting. I had a "feeling" that something bad would happen if I purchased them. I thought to myself "I am so sick of this and it is not going to take over my mind for one more second" and bought the boots. As soon as I was leaving the mall I just had this horrible feeling in my gut that something bad is going to happen just because I purchased those boots. Okay, time for all of you to tell me how crazy I am....

The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.
If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.
If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. No I would never tell someone they were crazy cuz all kinds of things run through my mind. I hope that you will be able to wear those boots and show em off. My OCD is a bit different but it is no fun no matter what kind is going through your head. God bless you and hang in there.

Amazing Grace, How Sweet the Sound
I have stuff like that happen to me sometimes. The other day I felt like something bad was going to happen if I went to lunch and got this blue cheese burger. I did, it was fantastic, and nothing happened. God is not a petty God who is waiting to smite you for the tiny things you do. Besides, that doesn't even sound like a sin to me.

Me too. I used to be afraid that it was a sin for me to eat foods that put me over the "daily recommended value" for certain things like saturated fat. These worries made me curb what I ate to some degree, but I was actually still pretty bad at listening to my fears. I like to eat too much...

I have the same problem! If I forget to take my lunch with me to work and have to buy it I get really upset with myself...It is exhausting.

You are not crazy for this. Your "feeling that something bad would happen" if you took a specific action is a classic text-book OCD symptom. Enjoy your boots, that feeling sounds like it was an intrusive OCD thought.
