  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So the tickets went on sale for the new tour last month and I tried to get some and failed miserably:sigh:

I then went on ebay to check out how much they are going for and was shocked in shagrin at how much they were:(

Then I checked individual venders and realized those are very expensive as well:cry:

And now I just don't know where to turn...any suggestions to my fellow die-hard U2 fans? I just need to go to this concert. I won't miss it! :help:

Hell, I don't even want to see U2. . . but I know the feeling. I missed out on a couple concerts earlier this year on account of not getting the tickets in time. Sorry, CotpicGirl :(

What's with that first quote in your signature, blackwasp? Do you agree with it?

(I'm in a rush) CotpicGirl, don't buy tickets off ebay, some people are selling tickets for $500 and more for GA. If you live in "north America" don't worry too much, as they usually return for the third leg as they have on past tours. They usually do more shows on the second time anyway.

Agreed. :sorry: Although I have become slightly more tolerant to some of their older material, I wouldn't choose to listen to it on my own or see them in concert. I doubt I would see my favorite bands if they played large venues where I had to watch them play on a jumbo screen.

Yes, I'm certainly not trying to make light of missing tickets. I have missed concerts I wanted to see as well due to availability, and have also had to pay four times face value.

Ahh...that, my friend, is from Huxley's The Doors of Perception. I'm only ten pages in, but so far I'm blown away. I figure I'll take the time to read it during Spring Break (two weeks away), and then read it again with a notepad to take note of the more brilliant lines. So far the writing is pretty impressive (IMO), but it may just be because I find the subject matter to be interesting. I'll PM you when I finish it. Oh, and I'm not sure what I think of the statement yet. I think it probably has a certain degree of validity, but I'm still turning it about in my head. :)

Yikes. I disagree with it pretty completely, and I'm a bit shocked that Huxley (an artist, certainly) would say such a thing.

I think the point that Huxley was trying to make (when viewing the rest of the passage not found in the quote) is that the true greats had their own visions and ideas that were more beautiful than what could be inspired by viewing the works of another artist; perhaps in a similar fashion to when certain musicians claim that they don't write their songs, but they just come to be. I'm still thinking it over though. :)

Sorry to bump this thread back up. Better late then never. ;)

I was just checking out the upcoming tour dates (just then) on interference.com, and there was some rumored third Leg tour dates. I quickly remembered this thread. The location in your profile coptic girl says "Boston area" which is good because there might be more dates in boston as stated in this list. But they will definitely be a re-visiting north America in the spring.

September 16th, 17th - Toronto, Air Canada Center
September 30, October 1st, 3rd - Boston, FleetCenter
October 7, 9, 10, 11th - New York City
October 16th, 17th - Philadelphia
December 13, 14, 17, 18 - Sydney SuperDome at Homebush Bay
http://www.interference.com/stories/id106658.html

Hope this helps

I got tickets for the extra London UK date 3 hours after they went on sale, by then, the 3 cheapest ticket prices were sold out already. Looking on ebay is disheartening now - I wish I'd bought twice as many beacuse I could have sold the extra on ebay and more than covered my cost for all of them!

Oh well.... roll on June 19th! U2 here we come!
