How about this: The value of the vote of each of the members of the house of represntatives will be according to the amount of taxes his constituents pay. So the votes from rich comunities will be worth more than those from poor communities. Same thing, innit?

Interesting how this proposal for the US House of Representatives has been conveniently ignored while proposing the same for the UN.

This attitude is what is necessary to have more and more people detest the USA and cheer on any terrorist strike coming the USA way! Not to mention it is a great way to show the world what is wrong with Christianity!

Try answering the questions.

I say move the UN out of the US, strip the US of UN membership, and then invite the US to join again should it choose to play by the rules (the US would probably turn the offer down).

Whether she does or doesn't, that quote doesn't say that. The english is just a bit convulted. This is, I believe, what she is trying to say, and I would agree.

As far as I know, western Canada isn't that bad, but eastern Canada has a pestialential influence, similar to that of Seattle on Washington. :sigh:

The UN was the US's idea - they have had a huge influence in making it what it is - so if they now decide they don't like it because it won't do as they say - (democracy is all right for domestic policy but the US prefers tyranny on the international scene) then they only have themselves to blame - let them take thir ball home and quit whining about the UN. The UN would be a more effective oraganisation for it.

If on the other hand the US wants to put in to practise some of the lofty aspirations in their declaration of independance then the UN could be a pretty good vehicle for achieving that in partnership with other nations around the world.

Interesting how this proposal won't even be considered when applied to states with predominately poor Congressional districts having equal funding (and influence) with states with predominately wealthy Congressional districts.

But then again — to point out the inconsistency of this position may be construed by some as "anti-Americanism".

I would agree ONLY if the U.S. agreed to be removed from the U.N Security Council, and to relinquish its positions on ALL UN committees where the U.S. dominates policy.

Maybe the U.N. would then be free to draft a resolution naming George Bush, Dick Cheney, Condoleeza Rice and Donald Rumsfeld war criminals and authorizing the U.N. nations to arrest these four people and hand them over to the World Court should they appear in any U.N. member country.

I could suppport that.

The UN is free to leave anytime it wants. The US should cut its funding about 99%. Maybe the UN will then move to Canada. Let Canada support them for awhile. I say the UN should move. Move anywhere but move out of the US.

The United Nations already keeps headquarters in Geneva...

I do agree with Fallschirmjägergewehr. A country financing the biggest portion of the annual budget should have some considerable say in the matter of how that money is then spent. Following the same principle I also strongly believe that countries contributing the biggest brunt of the UN peacekeeping forces--Pakistan, Bangladesh, India etc.--should have more say in how their troops are been "put into use." After all, their contribution is far more precious than any amount of dollars because those men and women ultimately contribute their lives.

Another anti-american statement.

You do realize the US seat on the security council is not dependent on where the US is located do you not?

You're showing the typical anti american stance of the liberal left.

So you think that the world's greatest military power shouldn't be on the security council?

What's the world going to do next time there's a Tsunami or Earthquake?
