Yes God spoke the day "Today" in the time of David It was because Joshua, years earlier wasn't able to give Israel the "Rest" God intended when they reach the promise land.

Verse 6..For if Joshua had given them "rest" God would not have spoken "later" about another day.
("later" indicate when God spoke later in the time of David because Joshua earlier wasn't able to give that "Rest").

Follow verse by verse in Hebrews 4.
I went through this very carefully, I would suggest you read through my post again Two kinds of Sabbath rest

You have to go back to Joshua/David references to understand these passages. The another day in Joshua is about the disobedience of the Israelites and why they did not enter into their rest earlier and another day was spoken of, this is not in reference to the Sabbath rest, it is about entering into Canaan. David is quoting why they did not enter their rest when they were supposed to and warns us TODAY when we hear His voice do not harden our hearts in rebellion, Psalms 95:7-8 like the Israelites did (in the day of Joshua). We are called to not follow the same path of disobedience Hebrews 4:6 Hebrews 4:11 and the Israelites broke the Sabbath Eze 20:13, Eze 20:21 which is why the Sabbath rest (keeping) remains for God’s people Hebrews 4:9 NIV.

There is no rebellion in Christ’s rest, only peace. We can’t follow the same path of disobedience and expect a different outcome, this is the warning of Hebrews 3 and Hebrew 4 if read in context. We can’t edit the commandments of God Deut 4:2 so no scripture can say otherwise. God’s wrote and God spoke the Ten Commandments, you cannot improve on God’s perfect works 32:16 Deut 4:13, Psalms 19:7 the earthy temple was an exact replica of God’s heavenly Temple Hebrews 8:5 so they are exactly how God wrote them and are in God’s Heavenly Temple Rev 11:19

There is a physical kind and there is a spiritual kind.

The first kind of Sabbath rest was periodic, Exodus 34:
21 Six days you shall labor, but on the seventh day you shall rest; even during the plowing season and harvest you must rest.

Every Sabbath day (Friday sundown to Saturday sundown), the Israelites were commanded to cease physical labor.

The second kind of Sabbath rest is quite different, Hebrew 4:
8 For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken of another day later on. 9So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God,

It is a permanent spiritual resting state of being, Psalm 95:
10 For forty years I loathed that generation and said, “They are a people who go astray in their heart, and they have not known my ways.”

They knew the first kind of Sabbath rest. They practiced it every week. Yet,
11 Therefore I swore in my wrath, “They shall not enter my rest [H4496].”

But they did not attain to the second kind of Sabbath rest.

Strong's Hebrew: 4496. מְנוּחָה (menuchah or menuchah) — 22 Occurrences

Brown-Driver-Briggs:
  1. resting-place …
  2. rest (from enemies) = peace 1 Kings 8:56 (compare 1 Kings 5:18), ׳אִישׁ מ 1 Chronicles 22:9 a man of peace (compare הֵנִיחַ vb);

H4496 can mean peace and rest. It is a state of being, Isaiah 28:
12 to whom he said, “This is the resting place,

It was not a resting time.
let the weary rest"; and, “This is the place of repose"— but they would not listen.

Jeremiah 6:
16 This is what the LORD says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’

That's different from rest for your physical body.

Jesus spoke in Matthew 11:
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

The physical Sabbath rest is only a type of the spiritual true-type of Sabbath rest. We come to the true Sabbath peace and rest by coming to Jesus.
The Mosaic Law is spiritual (Romans 7:14), so its physical commandments testify about a spiritual reality, which means that we should live in a way that testifies about the truth of the spiritual reality by keeping the physical commands. Jesus set a sinless example of how to walk in obedience to the Mosaic Law, which included keeping the Sabbath holy, and in Matthew 11:28-30, he was inviting people to come to him for rest and to learn for him. By Jesus saying that we would find rest for our souls, he was referencing Jeremiah 6:16-19, where the Mosaic Law is described as the good way where we will find rest for our souls. In Hebrews 3:18-19, they did not enter into God's rest because of their unbelief/disobedience, and in Ezekiel 20:13, it specifically mentions that they greatly profaned God's Sabbaths.

Right :)

So do you not experience two kinds of Sabbath rest, a physical kind and a spiritual kind? Which kind did the Israelites experience?

Some experience both while other experience neither. Correctly understanding a spiritual principle will never lead us away from doing things that are examples that testify about that principle.

Right, there are in fact two kinds of Sabbath rest.
All of God's righteous laws teach us about a spiritual principle of righteousness that leads us to take actions that are examples that testify about that principle even in situations that God's righteous laws do not specifically mention. So there are physical and spiritual aspects of righteousness, but there is only one type of righteousness, and the same is true of the Sabbath. If someone thought that they understood the spiritual principle of love, so they no longer needed to take physical actions that express love, then they would be missing the whole point, so again there are not separate types of love.

Take a situation where someone has no concept of what it means to love their neighbor. I could explain that concept to them by listing examples. It is then possible for them gain an abstract principle that is inclusive of all my examples. Furthermore, they could use that principle to know how to love their neighbor even in a new situation that wasn't one of my examples. If someone correctly understands the principle behind the command to love their neighbor, then it will lead them to take actions that are examples of it. If someone thought that they correctly understood the principle behind the command, so they no longer needed to take actions that are examples of it, then they would be missing the point. Likewise, if someone thought that understood the principle behind the command to keep the 7th day holy, so they no longer needed to take actions that are examples of it, then they would be missing the point.

As an exercise, can you describe this abstract principle in simple short sentences? :)
