  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Two-fold prayer request.

As you will be aware, yesterday was Mothering Sunday (is it different in the U.S  ).

I bought my mother what she wanted...slippers! (well, when i asked if there was anything she wanted that's what she said!), a promise keepsake box (with mini scriptures in it) and a couple of other things. Anyway, after Mass had ended, i went to purchase a couple of things from the little Catholic shop and then we all went to Mum's for lunch. After I had given Mum the present's i had bought for her...i had this feeling that i can't explain, it was as though i had something else to give her...i thought for a moment and then i knew what it was...i had just purchased a new rosary for myself after Mass (because my daughter loves the one i use now and i am going to give it to her as one of her gifts, after Easter Vigil)

...and so after Mum had opened her present's i went into the kitchen to help her while she was preparing the meal, and i told her that i had something i wanted to give her, but i didn't know how she would feel about it (i didn't want her to feel like i was forcing her to O.D on the religious stuff!)...

she said, "Is it a rosary?"

...I said, "Yes!"

...she said that she would really like to have a rosary, but that she didn't know whether she would be offending God by praying it, as she is not Catholic...i reassured her, that the prayers that we pray on the rosary are Christian prayers, all scripturally based, and that God would love to hear her prayers!

So there you have it...my non Catholic Mum now has a rosary ...my prayer request is this...would you all join your prayers to mine, that the Lord may use this as a stepping stone in drawing her nearer to Him..and possibly towards the Catholic Faith (i know that she has a soft spot for the Parish that i attend)? I would really appreciate it, thankyou.

Also...i have never loved Jesus more than i do right now, and because Satan can't get a hold on me spiritually, it seems that both of my children and myself are really going through the mill physically )last week we missed Mass because of my daughter's fever)...we only have a couple of weeks until our reception into the Catholic Faith, and i ask your prayers please, that we all remain well enough to be received at Easter Vigil as intended.

HUGS AND APPRECIATION TO ALL!

ukok,
perhaps you could print out this form of prayer for your mother?http://www.catholicity.com/prayersdevotions/divinemercy.html

And are you having "The Passion of The Christ" in a cinema near you? It would be, in my opinion, so very powerful if you saw the movie with her, AFTER she had been introduced to the Divine Mercy Chaplet above.

Kenny, due to pressure from the inhabitants of our City, the Passion of Christ is definately going to appear in our local cinema...i'm so glad i kept emailing them about it, and that others felt so strongly too! I asked Mum if she would like to come with me, but she doesn't think that she would like to see it at the moment...i am a bit dissapointed, but i understand, she's just like me, can cry at the mere mention of kleenex...

i will buy it as soon as it is available in the shops, abnd i will try to get her to watch it.

thanks for the link Kenny. :)
