On a sidenote, TPhoenix, I have to say that I don't think that the day = thousand years thing was meant to be taken literally, but rather that a thousand years was used as an arbitrary number to show that God is eternal.

If memory serves, it was idiomatic for "any number too large to bother counting".

Exactly. I think that the type of universe that evolution and an old universe talk about is far more complex and God-worthy than one plopped into existence.

I agree. I don't think the 1 day = a thousand years thing is any kind of a formula, lol. (laughing to myself, not at anyone)
