Lovely!Hi these are 12x16 acrylics painted from recent photos taken in my cul-de-sac. I though the center cloud in the first one looked like a galaxy. The first was on a wood panel and the second on canvas.

Your first one matches up better with the atmosphere of twilight the second one the ground is lit to much. If what you mean by twilight, is that the sun is no longer visible in the sky.
These are resampled considerably so it is tough to make out all the features. I took that to be snow, which would be highly reflective, accounting for the light.
However, if that is the case I would expect it to pick up a bit more of the red and yellow color as well. There are some yellow highlights.
If they are painted as they are seen in the photo most of the time that will not work out, there is two much contrast between the two. So the light will need to be pushed toward a darker value and the dark will also need to be pushed to a lighted value.
Again i am just looking at these over a computer, so i am not sure how true these are to the actual painting. But he was faced with a challenging problem in the second one. Being that there were two opposite contrast next to each other. The white of the snow and the dark of the paved road.

It is a very fine give an take to arrive at a proper balance between the atmosphere to give the illusion of lit darkness.
I have seen such done, especially with toning down brights.
However, in this case I am not sure it is too bright. I would just expect it to match more of the coloration of the sky if it is reflecting it.

Thanks guys. I attached the references. I did make some changes. I had more highlights in the wet pavement but removed those. I also exaggerated the snow to bump up contrast. I didnt do any of the details in the neighbors houses.
