  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Here's an essay I wrote for English. I don't think it's very good but I got a 103 on it :D :D :D so tell me what you think!!

‘Twas the night before Thanksgiving, and all through the house,
Every stomach was growling, even that of the mouse.
The turkey was set in the freezer with care,
In hopes that tomorrow it wouldn’t be there.
The children were nestled, all snug, in their beds,
While visions of stuffing danced in their heads.
Grandma with her gravy, Nannie with her bread,
After cooking all day, are at last in their beds.

The next day I awoke with a stomach that rumbled,
Weary eyed and hungry, down the hall, I did stumble.
It was then that I took a quaint sniff of the air,
And I knew right away what was cooking downstairs.
It was Thanksgiving at last; the food filled me with glee,
So I rounded the corner, to the kitchen, to see.

Then what to my wondering eyes should appear?
But a massive buffet, filled with food and good cheer.
The dishes were covered, but I had no fear,
Because I knew right away that the turkey was here.
The family all gathered to feast with our eyes,
On the food that would soon make our waists grow in size.
The stuffing, the dressing, the gravy, the yams,
The corn on the cob with the turkey and ham!
To the table we flew with our plates in our hands,
We had seconds and thirds and refills on demand.
Dad pushed back his plate, and we were, at last, done,
Until Aunt Di came in, and said, “We’ve just begun!”
She brought out desserts and exclaimed, “Here’s the fun!”
And we started again, until the food was all gone.
We gathered in front of the TV to relax,
And we watched the big game as we loosened our slacks.
The first downs, the touchdowns, the field goals, the teams,
Fans yelled to the field, while we yelled to the screen.

The game ended at last, and everyone left for their homes,
And I was left with all alone with a big pile of fresh turkey bones.

‘Tis the night after Thanksgiving, and all through the house,
Every stomach is bloated, except that of the mouse.
That feeling you get when you’ve eaten too much,
I feel that way now – it’s my stomach I clutch.
Oh, sweet, Alka-Seltzer, oh, bottle of Tums,
Oh, Pepto-Bismol, to my rescue, please come!
At last I am settled, after a long day of feasts,
I can lay down in bed, with my medicine, in peace.

There’s no day like Thanksgiving, I think as I put on my cap,
And I drift off to sleep, filled with turkey, for my Thanksgiving nap.
