(c)It’s funny…watching television on regular TV and watching it on High Definition has its major differences. Sure, I love a big television with a massive 5.1 Dolby surround stereo. Would I really like massive clarity? Hmm…that is something I have to think about. Anybody who has High Definition TV knows that the experience is different. Let us check out how:



REGULAR TV

HIGH DEFINITION TV

News- Plain and simple news watching. Boring for some, although critical for others

HDNews- Clear screen showing the slightest details to the light. Possibly making the TV more eye-appealing, yet disappointing for those who love the movie stars since it makes most “hott” stars look uglier.

Documentaries- Extremely boring for those who do not like animal program or storm chaser shows. Plain color and an OOH! AHH! Factor of 3 out of ten

HDDocumentaries- Vivid colors come to life and the animals seem more realistic causing the OOH! AHH! Factor jump from 3 to a possible 7.5. Channels like the HD Discovery Channel and National Geographic take full advantage of this

Movies- Still the favorite of some viewers. It omits the clarity in order to sense fantasy as a reality over reality exposed to more reality. Personally, I love watching movies on a regular TV than a High Definition. I will tell you why.-->

HDMovies- Since the screen has so much clarity, it is sad to see the truth in the movies. You no longer see the sadistic horror house of Saw or the cool Death Star platform; You see...well…a set. Just a plain and simple set with people in costumes and an 8 by 10 room covered in plaster and paint. It seems that regular TV blurs the set to make the people and set uniform.





It seems to me that maybe High Definition really does have some cons, as well as pros. I personally love High Definition, because I love discovering what the truth really is. I especially love it in games. As you noticed, I didn’t put a games category since it should be in another thread (Hey! Good idea).



Now, please tell me what you guys think. I hope I can get some feedback on all of this. God bless everyone!

Your forgot to do sports. I'm to understand that, when watching sports in HDTV, you can see the seams on the baseball.

What is wrong with me! Of course! Sports channels have come a long way when it comes to HD. I have seen the seams of the ball, plus I have seen the player's facial hair marks (you know guy...when you shave and you still got the shadow). It is amazing. If I ever got another HD TV, this time I would get it in plasma. That way, I can hang it like a picture in the livng room.

My mom's friend has one hanging from the ceiling. Its a nice setup. She has beds in the gameroom so we can watch the tv lying down. I love the picture quality.

I could never go back to standard definition tv...I LOVE HD tv too much As for movies..no..I didn't notice at all what you were saying about the scenes just looking like sets now. Maybe in lower budget movies like Evil Dead I suppose they would...but pop in War of the Worlds or Equilibrium and it's like seeing the movie for the first time.

For TV...there are just not enough HD channels yet...but more and more are slowly making their way to HD as the HD tvs become more popular and cheaper. I have a 60 inch HD tv and for regular tv it does look a little more jaggedy..since HD picks up all the flaws..but by switching to a different viewing mode...that helps alot..if you keep your tv set to AUTO for screen adjustment..it stretches..I go for the square and it really does look alot better.

Okay, Rent 2 movies of STAR WARS: REVENGE OF THE SITH. Put them on at the same time; one on regular tv and one on HD. You can clearly see the difference. God Bless all

Um... dvd isnt hdtv btw....

hd is too much information for it to be available on dvd disks. The reason you see the difference is that it is a newer tv with a lot better input, and the hdtv does have more resolution lines.

The only real hd is from satellite or downloaded on pc. Cables bandwidth isnt large enough for hd so it is downgraded just a little.

Also channels like tnt hd arnt true hd, they are just bumped up to close to hd quality. To truly be hd it has to be filmed with an hd camera. Like on discovery hd.

Like I said before, you can see the difference either way. You can see it on high definition television, but I nver said that DVDs are optomized for high definition since they already have a considerable amount of resolution, more so than a casette or watching regular TV.

If you, for example watched the CSI series on TV and on HD, you can see the clarity better. If you see it on regular TV and then watch it on DVD you either way can see the difference. HD TVs have better input, more dpp (dots per page), which equals more pixals which equals more image clarity. A new televison may be better than an older one, but HD TVs have the quality magnified by 4.
