  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So....up for review is a wonderful new healthy treat. Turkey bacon!

I wondered and wondered if it would be any good...since it is ....what's that word...oh yeah.....HEALTHY!!!!!!

Not too much now days tastes healthy!

Trust me.....I have tried.

So I decided to bite the bullet and purchased for $2.50 this modern day marvel known as the cure all....Turkey!!!!

I comes in just about all forms you know. Shredded, ground, sausage links, sausage balls. I mean...you name it....it can be replaced by turkey.

Seriously....and you know it tasted pretty good!

For all the hype I was expecting a let down...but no! I was pleasantly surprised.

Now I must say....nothing actually replaces real bacon....I mean...really. But turkey has done a pretty good job of a being a good counterfeit.

I wonder if you could make turkey cordon blue???? What about TLT....Turkey, lettuce and Tomato sandwich.

Who knows...the sky is the limit.

So next time you are in the grocery store. Show some love for your fellow drum stick. And I don't mean the kind you find in the ice cream isle!

I've eaten turkey bacon for years. It tastes fine. I do buy free range meats though, not conventional. This is much healthier. Animals raised conventionally are not good for you at all. Even the free range turkey bacon is a processed food, which we should eat little of, if any. Best is eating food in it's most natural state, minimally processed/handled. The more man has his hand in it the worse it is for you. God made things just right for our bodies. He created them and He knows what fuels them so they'll work at optimum levels. We need to stop choosing our foods based on our appetites. Our flesh will always lead us down the wrong road.

The good news is we can train our taste buds and actually enjoy good food. After awhile you will want to spit out the garbage, for it doesn't even taste good. You'll taste the chemicals and additives placed there to addict you to it. Face it, food companies are in it to make money. They don't care about your health.

As one who eats no red meat, potatoes, tomatoes, pasta, or canned anything, I appreciate turkey. Not just turkey, but turkey, chicken and fish only.

My digestive system does not have appropriate enxymes to work well with certain foods. Red meats and pastas refuse to digest, even with added digestive enzymes prior to the meal.

I haven't eaten a hamburger in over twenty years.

The day after Thanksgiving the grocery store puts out all of the turkey breasts, neatly wrapped and usually under .99 cents a pound. I take all of them, which usually comes to eight or ten full turkey breasts and I am happier than a duck in water.

I made my own breakfast sausage this week. Had never done it before, but was really easy. Added extra sage and red peppers. yum!

The pork was really lean. Actually too lean, I had to put oil in the pan because it didn't make any grease to brown itself or prevent sticking. Not quite as flavorful as the fat filled variety, but a tasty treat none the less.

Ben - It isn't so bad. Fast food restaurants would go under if they counted on me for revenue.

It is difficult to be invited to eat somewhere and when I get there they are barbequing outside all the burgers and hot dogs you can eat.

Soda's have been a thing of the past for at least twenty years or more and when once I could drink an occassional beer, it is a terror to my system now.

Vegetables such as brocoli, squash, cauliflower, all cause problems and I'm not one to run for greens either. A chicken salad with no tomatoes goes down easy enough. It's best I go for the health food substitutions, figs, organic apples, nuts, etc. to maintain my strength.

Great stuff.

The only way I can stomach it is if it's over-cooked (a little past crispy) in the microwave.

The turkey hot dogs are a little "off" as well...

But, hey, beats the heck out of eating hummus on a celery stick any day...
Ewwwww!!!!!!!:o^_^

Yes...eating healthy....you do have to train the taste buds! I am slowly trying to convert!
