It took me 4 doctors and almost 12 years until they would even consider me having PCOS. I have always knew it was PCOS but because I am not overweight (I am petite and think) they wouldn't even consider it. Finally, my last doctor.. said, okay.. we'll test you! We did some blood tests and did both kinds of ultra sounds... it was confirmed after that! It only took me about 12 years to get disagnosed but finally was...

Now I'm just waiting for my time to conceive.

hi friday... prayer is powerful! at least you know you *can* get pregnant, thats great news! hope you are blessed with a healthy baby soon.
Getting pregnant is all well and good, BUT . . .
women with PCOS are also more likely to miscarry because of the same hormone problems that cause them to be anovulatory. From what I've read, women with PCOS are 45% more likely to miscarry than women without PCOS. And women with PCOS have about a 50% chance of miscarrying compared to women without PCOS, who have a 15% chance of miscarrying.

My Dr actually said 'PCOS' when I went the last time. He hadn't actually said that to me prior.

He is not putting me on clomid until I get my insulin levels under control. He said that he could give it to me, but the miscarriage rate is really high, so my hubby and I don't want to suffer thru a miscarriage if we could at least cut back the risks. I am getting my blood tested in just over a week. I pray that my insulin is at a good level so that I can take the Clomid.

I will be trying this year. I am working on getting the weight down as well as my cholesterol and evening out the insulin. I've drastically changed the way I eat and the result is losing 12 lbs in just under 2 months. The doctor said since I'm on the BC pill that when I get off I should be fertile for at least 2-3 months and if that doesn't work she's going to put me on Metformin to see if that helps. I'm optimistic but realistic.
