  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Scripture says;

Ephesians 5:10 (NASB)

“trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord.”

This here is the proper heart before God. Trying to learn what is pleasing to Him. We all fall short in many areas. But as long as we walk in the integrity of our hearts before God, He can both use us and we can grow. Though when we do something that displeases Him we will lose our peace before Him. The heart that looks to please Him in all things, will be quick to turn back or torward Him and ask “why is my spirit, disquieted in me”. Than God in His faithfulness is very quick, to the open heart before Him, to respond to such a heart. With, as scripture says “healing in His wings”. Blessed are they that have and look to have this heart in them. For the heart that can say when all things are falling apart and all things are dark, the heart that says;

“where am I to go, You have the Words of eternal life”.

Will most assuredly be filled.

Blessings

Much love in Christ, Not me

Romans 12:1-3 bases pleasing God on presenting our bodies
as reasonable service to obtain the mindset required to know His will.

While learning also includes learning to be content
with such things as God gives Philippians 4:11

and not like those who set their minds on the things of the world. Philippians 3:18-19

15 Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, be thus minded: and if in anything ye are otherwise minded, this also shall God reveal unto you: 16 only, whereunto we have attained, by that same [rule] let us walk.

Walk in the spiritual life to which you have obtained from God,
being content within the upward calling.

“It’s not about how hard you try to change but how close you are to Him ,this will bring changes.”

This is so excellent!!!

Blessed are you that you know and see this truth. For this is Christianity in a nut-shell.

Exactly how I always feel about it. A constant tug of war opposite myself trying to get that final pull to the Lord. To finally rest assure I'm there at his feet forever and never again will I need to worry about anything. So much truth about the difficulty of our efforts, yes he's merciful, but how easy would his yoke be and his burden light if it was simple as us observing him as instructed. To rely less on what we learn ourselves by how much we know, but more on him by how much he understands. A fine but thin line from faith to works.

In Galatians 5 which I took a quick look this morning regarding what's of the Spirit. Specifically the verses saying the fruits of the Spirit. Some listed are love, joy, also such as longsuffering and self-control. After it even says against it all there is no law, a repeat of what was said before that those led by the Spirit aren't under the law. But before this and after tells us the Spirit and the flesh are contrary to each other, also listing the works of the flesh; few of which are hatred, contentions, and outbursts of wrath. If we could learn more how to be in the Spirit faithfully, it would be our nature to be contrary to what displeases the Lord.

Most beloved brother, Brotherly Spirit;

I see such a desire after God and truth in your writings my heart goes out to you in your struggles and understanding. If you would allow me to be so bold and speak to you about Christ in us and the new life.

A believer will continue to struggle against sin and self as long as they think there’s a chance or way they can overcome it. But will find themselves continually stuck in a Romans 7 situation. Falling, repenting, falling, repenting with no way out. It is this no way out that is the way out. Scripture says “let the law have its perfect work in you”. Meaning let the law so convict you and bring you to nothing before God where you would be willing to die rather than sin. It is in this state of heart that the struggles against sin and self will cease. It is when a believer sees that if he would really and truly die, that this is the only way for him to stop sinning and be freed from self. Than he sees that this is exactly what our salvation in Christ consists of, that when “ Christ died, we died”. Sin and self stay very much alive but we have died to them.

Consider; If you were to die right this second, than in another moment or two if Mr Sin or Self were to try to get you to do such and such. It would be impossible for you to respond for you were dead. This is the freedom we have in/with our salvation in Christ. Our deaths totally free us from the power of sin and self. It is seeing the necessity of our deaths as the only way to be freed from sin and self. Than the Christian life becomes a walk in newness of life, where the only struggle or fight is to fight the fight of faith to continuously “reckon ourselfs dead” for than you see that this command to reckon ourselfs dead is the most blessed command ever given, for it is the doorway of all joy, of all hope, of all peace, of all Christ.

Hope these are words of encouragement to you.

Thank you very much! Your kind words are uplifting as is all you posted. You too my brother in Christ are beloved. Not me, it's nothing more true then the false belief we can overcome sin by ourselves. Only difference that has made any lasting change is to deny myself in Jesus. To make it my life his in name as each of us are in his flesh and blood. Even dying to ourselves isn't something we overcome, but the result of faith believing he's the way to God. Our Lord and Savior is the Son of God, he is the image of the Father our God. Also salvation I believe is a free gift which comes with him, what being in him means to me is having him in heart and learning to have the love of God. Seeking the spirit and truth must be done with pure intentions, if we're to know and understand God the Father as his Son Jesus does him.

In the Lord, God bless you Not me!
