• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I hope this is ok to post. I have this friend who I met in High school. I went to the same high school as her for three years, then switched for Grade 12 to try new courses the first school didn't. The first highschool will be Highschool A and the second B. The girl will be named A for privacy reasons. I was good friends with her for the first couple years. The last year I was there we seemed to become distanced even though we had some classes together and were on the same bus. I came back to the Graduation Ceremony for A. I had other friends there but I was really happy to see her. She was the only who asked about how my time at highschool B was. That was 2 years ago. I had one conversation with her on Facebook since then, it was just about our summer jobs. I have tried to contact A since then, but she doesn't respond. I have sent more messages which I realize is dumb if she isn't going to respond. Now I'm afraid she won't ever say hi to me if I see her again. She'll think I'm a stalker. But she hasn't deleted from facebook, she hasn't blocked me. We live in the same city. I am trying to get over her, but she keeps coming into my subconcious every now and then and I can't forget about her easily. Any thoughts on how I can keep positive but not obsessive thoughts of A?

You can't make her respond, and I'm sure you don't want to, so all said and done, there is nothing there, there is nothing to fix.

Just let it go. Maybe that sounds cold but, I just don't have anything else.

Stay positive in that there are others out there that will respond, and hopefully you will run into the right one eventually. There are several ways to increase the odds of running into the eventual misses right, but I'll leave that to someone that knows more about that than I. I'm sure you have some ideas of your own if you aren't already doing them. :)

Ok, thanks for your advice. Kenny'sID and rob_aston I appreciate them both.

You probably should let it go, but if you want to try one last time and can keep from seeming too eager, I'd say to CALL her. You'll have to have something to say other than "Why didn't you answer me?" or "I'd like us to date," but if you can pull it off with some grace, you'll be able to get the sense of how she really feels about you and avoid being sidestepped as can happen with emails or texts, etc.

Ok thank you. I would, however, I don't know her phone number, she posted a phone number on fb about 3 years ago, but I don't know if that will still be her phone number, and she would see it as creepy that I would still have that number. and if I request her phone number on fb, I realize since I've bombarded her with messages, but not all at once, she might not be willing to give me her number, is it worth the risk to try both options?

Since you asked me, I don't think it would be a good idea to ask her for the number. That more or less defeats the purpose of talking directly to her rather than using electronic feelers that can go unanswered with you not knowing why. But if the old number isn't in use any longer, how's she to know you tried it?

Good point , Albion. Thank you. yeah, you're right about the electronic feelers. Thanks, I'll take the risk and pray that things work out for the best. I appreciate your advice. God bless.

There's only one way, tell A you're in love with her.

She'll do the rest.
