Truths

I have read about truths revealed in non-Christian religions, especially in early Greek philosophers and I have to wonder - how were these things revealed to them? I believe it's a redundant question to some extent but I have to ask nonetheless.

I think he's referring to St. Basil of Caesarea who said that God has revealed parts of the truth in other nations.(or something along these lines) And I think he's right. Buddhists for example treasure humility and see fasting as a way for spiritual growth but their beliefs are still very far from Christ.

This sounds like the stories Mormons always tout to bolster their belief that Christianity came to the ancient Americans.

Much can also be learned by studying and contemplating human behavior, both through events in history as well as in the clinical/scientific sense. Take this quote from the renowned psychoanalyst Alfred Adler, for instance:

There is a law that man should love his neighbor as himself. In a few hundred years it should be as natural to mankind as breathing or the upright gait; but if he does not learn it he must perish.

In view of this truth, well understood by one who made his living by observing the psycho/social development of human children, Christ's "new commandment" seems to have support even from within the social science community.

God made the world and wants His creations to know Him. He gave us our reason to help us find the truth. God's law is written in the human heart as well:

"For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another..."

Creation itself is a revelation of God, including ourselves.
