  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't think that Iraq is being truthful or that it will be forthcoming. I think we need to be aggressively inspecting their country, as the UN regulations allow. When we find something, then we move to the next step. I don't think that the next step is automatically war. To me, the logical next step would be to destroy that weapon and continue to look for more.

I don't see how war would help anything as long as inspectors are allowed in the country and freedom to go whereever they want. Once inspectors are kicked out, then I think that war might be an option--but only then.

I don't think that lying in its report is something to go to war over--what did we expect? (Unless all we want to do is go to war, then we would have set it up so that this report is all the evidence we need to attack.)

War is hell. Thank God that we're not being attacked, and think hard about visiting that on other people--the majority of whom would be innocent bystanders in an already poor country.
