Your lesson about Herod is suspect. Yes, Herod put him in jail. John was beheaded specifically because Herodias ask for pizza with John's head on top.
Remeber that Herod had killed all the firstborns in efforts to kill Jesus. Herod was not concern with the laws of the Hebrew slaves. Who preached to Herod for him to refuse the 10.commandments as you say? Please get your story straight.

That is two different historical 'Herods' Mr. Cribstyl. "Herod The Great" [infant-slayer] and "Herod Antipas" [John the Baptist Slayer].

Herod the Great - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The lesson is clear. John the Baptist [an Elijah] was killed at the behest of a daughter of a Woman in an illicit relationship with a King [Governmental ruler]. You will find the same lesson in Revelation [an evil Harlot Woman, her daughters and the Kings of the Earth, worship and broken commandments of God, persecution and finally justice] and all the way back in the days of King Ahab, Jezebel and Athaliah [an evil Woman, her daughter and a King, worship and broken commandments of God, persecution, and finally justice].

The Typology is straight and cannot be broken.

...So the tranfiguration point the fact that God appeared to say We need to hear Jesus. Moses and Elijah were prophets who proclaimed that Jesus was comming and we need to hear Him. ...

Does God/Jesus contradict what He says?

To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, [it is] because [there is] no light in them. Isaiah 8:20

Ask yourself, "Did Jesus speak thus?" "Was Jesus a Prophet?"

And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. 1 Corinthians 15:32

And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. Luke 24:27

Indeed, we do need to "Hear" Him. What did Jesus say? Do you realize that even the Sermon on the Mount and Beatitudes are Old Testament scripture?

Blessed are the poor in Spirit:

For all those [things] hath mine hand made, and all those [things] have been, saith the LORD: but to this [man] will I look, [even] to [him that is] poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word. (Isaiah 66:2)

Blessed are they that mourn:

To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; (Isaiah 61:2)

Blessed are the Meek:

But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. (Psalms 37:11)

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst after righteousness:

Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock [whence] ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit [whence] ye are digged. (Isaiah 51:1)

He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. (Psalms 15:2)

Blessed [are] they that keep judgment, [and] he that doeth righteousness at all times. (Psalms 106:3)

My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments [are] righteousness. Psalms 119:172

O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea: Isaiah 48:18

Blessed are the merciful:

[[To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.]] Blessed [is] he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. (Psalms 41:1)

The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; [and] he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies. (Psalms 41:2)

Blessed are the pure in Heart:

He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. (Psalms 24:4)

etc...

And it shall be for a token upon thine hand, and for frontlets between thine eyes: for by strength of hand the LORD brought us forth out of Egypt. (Exodus 13:16)

And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. (Deuteronomy 6:8)

I stand corrected about Herod. It's slipped my mind that Joseph moved after the death of King Herod.

Do you have family that is not in Christ and are rejecting the message? I do... Is it funny, or heart-breaking...

Did you have friends who rejected the message? I had such... and I wonder if there could have been something more I could have said than I did... I did not know back then what I know now... and I always wonder...

It's all about planting the seeds of truth... sometimes we think we need to do the Holy Spirits work of nurturing the seed. A simple statement to someone years ago may produce fruit today or in the future.

I have been guilty of having the opportunity of speaking with someone about our faith and have blathered on so much that I begin to see the glazed look come into their eyes...

It's a paradox, sometimes I pray for more courage to speak the truth to people while at other times I'm praying for the Lord to give me discernment on when to shut up...

I do know that same feeling... when I first truly began to study and search the scriptures, and the Holy Spirit was leading into the marvelous truths of these things, oh how excited I was to tell my family, friends, and others who wanted to listen.

Now it is another matter entirely. I still desparately want to share all that I know with them, if only they would want it to hear it...

...I must admit at times I have been less than helpful [I would even say detrimental :( ] as an ambassador to/with Christ Jesus in the process.

I sense the times in which we are in, and think how much is left...

...yet I know that God will force no one into His Kingdom who is unwilling, and I should learn to follow His example and leave it with Him.

There are still tears though, of only which He in Heaven sees...

...and not to mention yielding myself daily to Him [has that ever been something so far], and letting Him transform my mind/heart and Character to be ready now...

...Thank you for the words! Jude 1:2

Consider the experience of Saul/Paul. The vision on the road to Damascus was a Seed that unfolded more and more to him as the Lord led him through the 4 phases/modes of the grace of God in Jesus Christ, as he obeyed the vision. He was zealous for the form/symbol of truth in the law before the vision came to him. The vision did not lead him to despise the law or be indifferent to the Lord's purpose and work of the law. Yet his zeal was molded like the potter's clay as he went about obeying the vision and following the Lord's directions through the Spirit, and then in the end it was put to the fire and sealed.

Acts 9:17-23
17 And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.
18 And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.
19 And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus.
20 And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.
21 But all that heard him were amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests?
22 But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ.
23 And after that many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel to kill him: KJV

Acts 9:24-30
24 But their laying await was known of Saul. And they watched the gates day and night to kill him.
25 Then the disciples took him by night, and let him down by the wall in a basket.
26 And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple.
27 But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.
28 And he was with them coming in and going out at Jerusalem.
29 And he spake boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus, and disputed against the Grecians: but they went about to slay him.
30 Which when the brethren knew, they brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him forth to Tarsus. KJV

Gal 1:13-24
13 For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:
14 And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.
15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,
16 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:
17 Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.
18 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days.
19 But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother.
20 Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not.
21 Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia;
22 And was unknown by face unto the churches of Judaea which were in Christ:
23 But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed.
24 And they glorified God in me.KJV

Acts 22:12-21
12 And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there,
13 Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him.
14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.
15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
17 And it came to pass, that, when I was come again to Jerusalem, even while I prayed in the temple, I was in a trance;
18 And saw him saying unto me, Make haste, and get thee quickly out of Jerusalem: for they will not receive thy testimony concerning me.
19 And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue them that believed on thee:
20 And when the blood of thy martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his death, and kept the raiment of them that slew him.
21 And he said unto me, Depart: for I will send thee far hence unto the Gentiles. KJV

Acts 26:2-23
2 I think myself happy, king Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself this day before thee touching all the things whereof I am accused of the Jews:
3 Especially because I know thee to be expert in all customs and questions which are among the Jews: wherefore I beseech thee to hear me patiently.
4 My manner of life from my youth, which was at the first among mine own nation at Jerusalem, know all the Jews;
5 Which knew me from the beginning, if they would testify, that after the most straitest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.
6 And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers:
7 Unto which promise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come. For which hope's sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews.
8 Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?
9 I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.
10 Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them.
11 And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto strange cities.
12 Whereupon as I went to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests,
13 At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me.
14 And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
15 And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.
16 But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;
17 Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,
18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
19 Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision:
20 But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.
21 For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me.
22 Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:
23 That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.
KJV

This presentation is not a proof, but a witness to how the Lord leads us as he led Saul/Paul. The distinctions in the story are not an evidence against its truthfulness but is an evidence as to how the Lord leads us through the earnest of the Spirit.

The lovers of this world stumble at the historical distinctions. Little children are sincere and cannot see the distinctions in the story of Saul/Paul and the Lord's purpose and work through him.

The story does show that the maturity of Paul's message was concerning the resurrection and the inheritance, of which the Pharisees were in agreement in the form of the thought. The story does show that it was the Grecian and Sadducee element working through the high priest caste and family that were the active and aggressively bloodthirsty element among the Jews. This element taught that God was only good, and good all the time. They had received this thought of God, not from Moses and the prophets, but from Plato and his followers; i.e. words, western civilization like a little he goat whose feet do not touch the ground (immortality of soul).

Do you have family that is not in Christ and are rejecting the message? I do... Is it funny, or heart-breaking...

Did you have friends who rejected the message? I had such... and I wonder if there could have been something more I could have said than I did... I did not know back then what I know now... and I always wonder...
You've said quite a lot in this thread to connect everything that Jesus taught to the law. I've tried to get understanding from you about what Peter meant by "the present truth. My comment about friends running away from you, is because you appear to give a history lesson rather than a short answer. (kidding)

Thank you for the interaction.

Cribstyl it was stated by yourself,"
The present truth that Peter was teaching about is the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the power of God's word keep us from falling. Peter tells us that God's word give us everything to a life of Godliness. ..."

Thus originally it was said by myself, "
... Did you know that even Peter believe in the "present truth"?

Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know [them], and be established in the present truth. 2 Peter 1:12

What is the Present Truth?

Revelation 14:6-12; Revelation 18."

Look at Revelation 14:6-7:

And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Revelation 14:6

Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. Revelation 14:7

Within the Everlasting Gospel, that Peter himself believed, lived and taught, is the very same sentiment. Without the 4th Commandment, we can have no rest, for we will have ignored the rest which God gives to us. The 4th Commandment is directly linked with Creation [and thus re-Creation of the New Man] and Redemption [redemptive rest], in which God is working in us to obey Him, and he working in us sanctifying us from all iniquity, and transgression. This so that we may be truly free from all bondage, and children of liberty. The 4th Commandment is the one commandment that reveals that it is only the True God, The Ever-Living and Creator God who can make anything Holy, Blessed or Sanctified, for Godliness. Without acknowledging it in the life, there is then transgression and bondage [the very things Christ Jesus, in His love, died to set us free from].

P.S. I would welcome more interaction [though in some instances character is being tested/developed], and would not want anyone to come into these forums and be shut away from the Word of God and the Truth therein.

The Seventh Day Adventists are not to be like the Pharisees of old who kept the Light to themselves, but are to share with as many others as what they have. So ask questions, continue to dialogue, but Truth will not compromise.

I was long winded at one time (not as long however) and someone showed me my ways. I hope the same for Revelation so please forgive him. I do not understand why it is so hard to understand that the Father has a Government which includes laws that rule not only the earth but the universe. All governments on earth have laws that when broken you will have to pay some type of penalty rather civil, misdemeanor or a felony. Adam went against the establishment of the Father and the Son came and ratified or ransomed Adam back as well as all others who will obey and that is simple. Even parents have rules to govern their home! When rules, laws are disregarded there is chaos and that is simple!

Present Truth is exactly what it means truth that has existed from Elohim throughout the universe. You know even Satan has rules with his angels they are contrary to Yahweh's but he keep his angels in order to cause disaccord here on earth.

All the Christians feel now that the Jews are the only chosen people and that is not true. Yahweh chose the Canaanite first from Ham, the Jews from Shem and they had the privilege of Yashua coming through their seed, then Gentiles (Indo-Europeans), Japheth children as well. All yes all fail and the Father will call from all nations and people a small group to do the final work and that is to bring in the great multitude.

It amazes me that people have all these suppose hidden symbols of the Bible but cannot see the ones that are truth plainly in their face. There are no hidden symbols like a crossword puzzles base on groups of words. But plain symbolic usage that man uses evey day.

Jacob was give a name to replace his sinful name his sons also had major problems and all of them overcame except Dan, Joseph's son took his place. Now if Elohim only meant the Jews then Dan would have been included. These names are symbols of how all will overcome as they did because this is how Elohim works. He gave their names recognition as His name should be recognized! But man will make excuses with the Almighty Ones names as they do with the Father's Laws. They will say that the sacrificial rituals are the laws they are not these rituals ended as the Bible said.

Finally we can provide many Scriptures plain and clear that presents the truth that Elohim's Government is everlasting and the Father laws will not be destroyed by Satan or man end of story-and that is PRESENT TRUTH!!!!!!

Thanks for you post, and bringing a measure of sanity to this thread.
Rev14 is an honorable man, he'll be OK, he's respectful.

Noone is bucking God's government. Presenting the details about His law is the problem. The bible say that Adam broke a commandments, but commentary say that Adam broke many commandments in a law. Commentary implies and argue a law through reasoning, but prophets and apostles say; The law came by Moses. When Jesus says..."Did'nt Moses give you the law?" or "You have heard from them of old..." The argumentive commentary about Jesus being God and it's His Law seems to butt heads against other bible truths.
Present Truth is exactly what it means truth that has existed from Elohim throughout the universe. You know even Satan has rules with his angels they are contrary to Yahweh's but he keep his angels in order to cause disaccord here on earth.
From my research (tell me if I'm wrong)what SDA call "present truth" is primarily know as the three angels message. It also encompasses certain doctrines especially Investigated Judgment.
My argument in this thread was that Peter did not imply what SDA call present truth or a link to what John wrote about in Rev14. I was hoping to focus on what Peter was refurring too as present truth.
Studies prove that Peter's first letter (1Peter) contains the truths of the gospel of faith, that Peter was called by Christ to feed the sheep. His mandate was carried out in words we can find in the scriptures. Just implying that he was a Jew and kept the law, is a logical misdirection of what is written line upon line for our salvation. The present truth he taught is the essencial of the doctrine of faith.

What Peter explains in 2Peter is that "precious promises" have been given to us that we may put on a heavenly nature.
What Peter coins as "these things" in verses 2Pe 1:8 ,9, 10, 12, 15 are qualities to ADD to our faith. Peter explained that whoever lack these things are blind. Verse 12 say 2Pe 1:12Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know [them], and be established in the present truth.

I raised an arguement to say; When Peter tells us that the prophet did'nt know the message taught to Christians, we know that these things had nothing to do with the law.
1Pe 1:9 Receiving the end of your faith, [even] the salvation of [your] souls.
1Pe 1:10 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace [that should come] unto you:

You can probably see that, what I was hoping to discuss was only what Peter meant rather than a nonstop history lesson about the glorious sabbath and ten commandments.
It's debatable to many what SDA claim from Rev14 as the everlasting Gospel and the commandments of God.

When I dont agree with links or commentary, "sparks fly" with some spectators who have nothing to add but personal attacks on my character. I have been open, reasonable and wanting to love those I disagree with. I love God's word and I love God's people.

All the Christians feel now that the Jews are the only chosen people and that is not true. Yahweh chose the Canaanite first from Ham, the Jews from Shem and they had the privilege of Yashua coming through their seed, then Gentiles (Indo-Europeans), Japheth children as well. They will say that the sacrificial rituals are the laws they are not these rituals ended as the Bible said. [/quote] That being said; The message of the gospel reveals to us that Jesus Christ is God and that all things were made by Him and for Him. Upon His resurrection The Father has given Him the thrown will all authority and power.
Finally we can provide many Scriptures plain and clear that presents the truth that Elohim's Government is everlasting and the Father laws will not be destroyed by Satan or man end of story-and that is PRESENT TRUTH!!!!!!

Isolated text and commentary can appear to prove many things, but God Honor His word above His name.

Cribstyl:

Let me see if I can make this very simple the Law as you well know was given to Moses by Yahweh then Moses was commanded to come up and receive it by Yahweh himself. Yahweh also told Moses to write down the total event but you know how people do we look at the earthly person instead of the original Law Giver. If you continue to read about what Yashua said stating the fact that they recognize Moses instead of the Most High they still did not honor Moses either! Now you said the Apostles but it was only in Acts that Peter was referring to about Moses' law pertaining to rituals and sacrifices not every day life. But here is the problem my friend you must relate to the time and what they understood that we must understand today that does not need to be interpreted. The sacrificial system was orders given by Yahweh dealing with blood to pay the requirement of the penalty stipulated by the law! Only sin breaks the law, what is sin but those action committed by intelligent beings against an establish government that must be adhere too!

Present Truth is when you fully understand the directives given by Yahweh for all people on earth through His word period. It is not just particular directive but all of them as a connected chain. If you do not understand all than you have what we have today and that is various different denominations. The Bible says one faith and one baptism but look at all who claim their church has the truth join them! Is it SDA no it is not because like the rest we have fall short as well. Any time a church says you must only come through their doors to be save that's a problem. Yashua saves and not any Church but through what is Present Truth. If you carefully study the Bible you will find that Elohim always chose the one less popular, has certain problems and finally a small or unknown group to work with. But what happens is the group selected to become His messenger starts off well. Then they get the big head forget what they were selected to do in the first place then they start adding things He never told them to do and now you have the mess we have today.

Peter was a man and his ethnic background was Hebrew nothing more and he had to reveal this to him as well in order for him to become a messenger! We get so hung on who Yahweh use instead of the message. We are so caught into our culture differences instead what makes us the same and that is we are make like the Most High. Peter obeyed the commands of Elohim as we all are required to do. He stated that you must turn from corruption now what makes us corrupt why of course sin. What is sin but transgressing Yahweh's laws that Peter said was established from the foundation of the world. Let look at this more closely if Yahweh had a plan for His Son to die that mean He knew that one of His created beings would attempt to defy His peaceful government. Now you said that Adam committed one act of breaking Elohim's commands and I say no and here is an example from my mother. She said if you lie, you will steal, steal you will kill. Now you will say I have lied or I know someone who has stolen something but never killed anyone, so what's your point? The point is that if that person or you continue in the path you will do eventually all three sooner or later. Adam lied, coveted, stole, dishonored his Elder (His Creator) and he even blame Yahweh for giving his wife that he listen too! Now if you notice that Yahweh discusses with His Son and the Holy Spirit that man needs to be put out because if he continues to eat from the tree of life he would become ruthless and live for ever. Not even a thousand years later what happen all of mankind was wiped out except only eight people why because they were out of control! That is chaos for breaking the law established from the beginning. Man was more intelligent and knew exactly what they mean but as sin increase man intellect decrease. Let's make it even more simple as a parent you tell the child your rules but they make excuses that they did not understand what you mean so you break them down so they can't make any more excuses! The laws that we abide today in our governments are based by the laws of Elohim. Even holiday means holy day look it up.

Now this is interesting because you say that Elohim the Father, Son and Holy Spirit names is isolated? Is your name not important I would think so because many have even changed their name to one thy felt was important! Name has meaning and it let you know who and what this person is. But once again man feels what he has is important but when it comes to Elohim anything should do as long as man himself says it's ok. Why do you think we get upset on idenity theif because it is our name!!!
The Bible even indicated that "holy and reverence is His name." A Hebrew boy would not have been called a Greek name during that period of time because names meant also power! We make light of these very significant matters that was place first in the commandments of Elohim. All throughout the Bible Yahweh's name was related to those who were in harmony with Him even the Heathens knew His correct name. Man today accept and believe anything but Present Truth. You can provide Scriptures that is clear and they still will reject it. Look at those who gave Camping millions of dollars over a specific date of Yashua's return. People believe in a rapture when the Bible said consistently every eye shall see Him coming in the clouds with His angels. This was even told to the High Priest and his father in law and repeated in the first chapter of Revelation. Yet folks will believe in anyone but the Bible who they claim is holy. It is clear it says keep My commandments, call me by My name, obey My voice, keep My day of rest, eat what I said to eat, reverence only My name, study My word for yourself, and put aside what I say to put aside. Yet we get upset, argue, listen to others instead of taking the time out to research throughly for truth as we do for buying our cars, or any other valuable thing except our souls!!!! I will leave you these two verses that are simple and very plain then you decide if Their names are isolated or not!

Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name, and what is His Son's name, if you know it? Proverbs 30:4

I am YAHWEH that is My name: and My honor will I not give to another (name), neither My praise to graven images. Isaiah 42:8
