Truth is fallen (Revised)

Ok, after taking a lot of heat about this sermon and going through it over and over I have revised it with the help of my loving helper wife . The example I gave on the obeadiance to the truth was removed because it took the focus away from the subject. Also a little more was removed because it was another subject in itself. I would like to give the advice to read along in your own bible so that you are not confused with the quotes I give. My wife said her main problem was the translation I used didn't make sence to her and it was better when she used her own.

Read with me in Isa. 59:7-15 “Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths.
The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace. Therefore is judgment far from us, neither doth justice overtake us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, but we walk in darkness. We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes: we stumble at noon day as in the night; we are in desolate places as dead men. We roar all like bears, and mourn sore like doves: we look for judgment, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far off from us. For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions are with us; and as for our iniquities, we know them; In transgressing and lying against the LORD, and departing away from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood. And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter. Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.”

There is so much I have to deal with in this message. Just bear with me as I try to give all that God has laid on my heart. In verse 14 are the words “For truth has fallen in the street.” Pilot, before handing Jesus over to be crucified made the statement “What is truth?” We need to answer this question. What is truth? What is it to you? Jesus said “You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.” How can we be made free if we don’t know what truth is? We really can’t.

Jesus went a step further though and told us exactly what truth is though. He said “I AM THE TRUTH…”!

So what does “truth “ mean. The word truth is defined as being absolute, and right. So in reality what Jesus is saying is “I am absolute and right”! Isn’t that something to get excited over?

Happy is the man who delights in the word of God. He will have the truth hidden in his heart and will live in the truth of God. He can not be bound by the lies of the devil for he has a standard of truth to live by! As it was said “When the enemy comes in like a flood, the spirit of the Lord will raise up a standard against him.”

But truth is fallen in the street. What happened to the word of God? What happened to the truth? We let it fall to the ground! Everyone has heard the truth, everyone has held it. It went to all the world! But not everyone has kept the word of truth! Not everyone has obeyed the word! According to Romans 1:21 “Because, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were they thankful, but became vain in their imaginations and their foolish heart was darkened.”

We knew the truth, but we let it go because we refused to keep it! Instead of glorifying God by seeking Him and following Him in our lives we have gone the way of the world. We live for what we can get in this temporal life rather than what we can know of God and how close we can be to Him! We have traded the truth in Gods word for the things we want here on earth like a bigger house, or better job, or anything other than the knowledge of God! Because we sought after our pleasure rather than dieing to ourselves in truth. We have known the truth but because we don’t act like it, we can’t say we are of it!

Now the results of a life lived apart from the truth is this, turn back to isa. 59:9 “Therefore is justice far from us, neither does righteousness overtake us. We wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness but we walk in darkness.” When we don’t follow God everyday in everyway, then we lose our righteousness! We are no longer justified in God because we don’t seek Him with all our heart any longer.

We no longer do what is good and right, and we are in darkness! We become people with no peace. Because we have not let the truth have dominion in our lives! We can say “I BELIEVE!” and then we go about our lives as though we haven’t found anything in God worthy enough to take Him with us and to learn more of Him and how we should conduct ourselves in life! We expect salvation because we SAID “we believe”, but we don’t find it because we did not obey but rather left the truth behind so that we could look for our joy in the world!

Our judgment becomes backwards because we no longer seek God for what is true! Every man does what is right in His own sight! Sin no longer is as big a deal as it used to be. Tell a little lie so you don’t hurt feelings. Is it so wrong? If you listen to God it is! But if you don’t get your truth from Gods word then what is sin? Without the truth of Gods word in you there is no way to know! Right becomes wrong and wrong right! Romans 1:25 said it like this “Who exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creation more than the creator…” .

Let me close with this call to follow God. Proverbs 23:23 said “Get the truth and don‘t ever sell it” That truth is the person of Jesus Christ who died to redeem us. It is every word God spoke. Come to Jesus and admit you need a savior. No one is good in themselves. Let the truth of God live in your heart. Make Him Lord of your life. Make His truth your standard to follow. Maybe you have committed your life to Jesus before. Maybe you have sought the things of the world more than Gods word? It is not a bad thing to check yourself. If everything is good and you are following God then I thank God for you! If not then make it right. God will put His spirit of truth in you. He will show you right from wrong. Live in the truth. Live in Jesus. Would you come to Jesus now?

The two main deceptions are -

1. It's impossible

2. Already accomplished

Believe either , and the result is the same ; one has no deep compulsion to seek to be effectually holy , perfect , and merciful as The Lord is Holy , Perfect , and Merciful.

But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. <-----> 1st Peter 1:15+16

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. <-----> Matthew 5:48

Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. <-----> Luke 6:36

When we believe in God's Ability to so transform us , we persevere in the seeking thereof , not settling for a form of godliness which fails to effectually empower .

This is one of the main aspects of the strait and narrow , which few are willing to endure , for the Great Prize is obscured from their seeing , and there's plenty who assert such is unnecessary / unreasonable , etc . , who are content to travel along the broad path , where numbers are high , and it's much easier to go with the flow . But for us who are willing to struggle / suffer a while ; there's a higher road , which leads to higher places .

Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
Rejoice evermore.
Pray without ceasing.
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Quench not the Spirit.
Despise not prophesyings.
Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
Abstain from all appearance of evil.
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it. <-----> 1st Thessalonians 5:14-24

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
