  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Truth, Divinity and orthodoxy

The way I'd take this is as follows:

God weaves the threads of reality, so when we say "God is truth", we say that he controls what is true, that from him come all things that are right and accurate. Honestly, I do believe that God transcends truth/untruth because God controls the inner workings if the universe and reality.

When it comes to orthodoxy, that gets even more complex. I do not believe that literal and fundamentalist approaches to things are particularly constructive, therefore I do not believe that fundamentality or orthodoxy is necessary to come to God. Anyone, at anytime, at anyplace, no matter what, can come before God to seek him out. His love transcends all distances, all places, and all forces.

But do we know for sure? We never will. God presents us with mysteries and quanderies, for he wants for us to become thinking, rationalizing creatures. I believe that the more you ponder the mysteries and miracles of God, the closer you get to him.
