• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I was sent this via email and found it interesting. Truth be told, I kinda liked Michael Moore's last movie about Detroit, but after his last movie and especially after the oscar's I really detest the man. I'm not crazy about posting links, but it is a rather lengthy article definitely worth the read if you are a fan of his (or even if you aren't).

I chose not to read the link, however, my take on this?

Michael Moore's truth is so mired in the muck of his own "reality" that it's so far removed from what we know is truth: the Bible!!!! That he had planned this speech for 3 days before the Oscars shows deliberate disrepect of the place and time to make that speech. And to do it PUBLICLY on TV is utter disrespect. I've seen people who are known to be outspoken restrain themselves, and they behaved BETTER than this idiot.

Fictitious, my foot! HA!

I have not seen any of his movies; so I will not judge! However... I found his speach at the oscars rather distastefull and showed that he has absolutely no respect for anyone or anything around him.

While I believe he is entitled to his own opinion on that subject, I also believe he is REQUIRED to respect everyone elses opinions and support our nation though he may not like the war. That is a requirement that we accept along with the right to our own opinions... an eye for an eye, right?

Like I have said, this is MY opinion, and I respect all of yours... so please don't rip me apart for sharing this, but please do share your opinion.

Wonderful, another Michael Moore bashing thread.

It seems as though hate is an infectious disease amidst patriotic Christians.

Two Feathers,
I don't feel that this thread is bashing on him as a person, just saying that he made a few wrong choices in his words. If you read, there are many many good comments about his movies and his talents...

I did not see the Oscars, but I fail to see how any political speech he may have given would have been inappropriate or, to quote on poster, 'disrepspectful.' The Academy Awards is a dog and pony show to reward mostly mediocre Hollywood products. He was given the opportunity to speak, and he did so.

You may disagree with his opinions. But saying that he shouldn't give them 'at the Oscars,' or 'on TV,' strikes me as odd. It's his message, and that was an effective platform for him to deliver it.

He has every right to his opinion, and at the oscars were he to say "Thank you for this award BLAH BLAH BLAH. OH yeah by the way "I am anti war" or had he worded it a bit differently, more tastefully than bashing our country, our troops, and our president and calling them all "Fictitious" (spelling?) Then it would have been fine. Or, had he made his EXACT SAME SPEECH at a different time, on a different show, that would have been fine.

I guess that's what got to me too. I mean I never would have envisioned him supporting the war, but to say the things that he did to the world was more than inapropriate, it ws inflamatory. Of course that is just my opinion. But as my folks always told me, he made his bed now he has to lay in it.
