I've been thinking this, Canada has 1/10th the population, but some how still almost buys as much as the US, looks to me the US isn't doing their purchasing share.

Biden accomplished the same thing with a smile and a handshake and alot less drama.

To celebrate Trump's accomplishment here is to revel in needless cruelty and contempt. This is not a proper Christian attitude.
Because that's not a bug, it's a feature.

thats weird because a quick google search says instead.

In 2023, the US imported $484 billion worth of goods from Canada, while exporting $593 billion worth of goods to Canada wich lines with trumps 25% deficit he was complaining bout

You're right sorry, the numbers I referenced were US/Can imports from all other nations.
Can imported from United States ($269B)
US from Canada ($410B)
The US as the worlds top consumer, consumes more than the next five follow on nations combined.
So yes, there is going to be a trade deficit.

I never said there wasn't I' just saying that given the size of the two countries, it appears to be a trade deficit the US has, per capita were paying more then the US. Are you the kind of guy that has has his family of 6 pay 60$'s for dinner, and a family of four pay 40$'s of a 100$ bill and complains your paying more?

And this is even aside from there is nothing wrong with a trade deficit, the US buys a lot of stuff because they need it.

doing quick calculations, january exports to Canada were around 660 million per capita, while the US was, 113 million per capita. in imports. So Canadians buy far more from the US then the other way around.

Thanks for the information. I hadn't looked into this, but I was wondering how Canada-US trade deficit is only 50+ billion dollars when Canada has eight times less population than the US.

yeah, it feels to me the US isn't doing their fair share of trades if anyone isn't, like I said, it's like a family of six complaining paying 60$'s for a bill at a resteraunt of seperate meals, and another family only paying 40$'s. Well you ate more. Or in this case, Canadians consume far mor then the US does. ALOT of our stuff, comes from the US.

Agreed. But apparently to the US President a trade imbalance is one nation subsidizing the other nation.

US pauses tariffs on Mexico, Canada for a month

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said in a post on social media, writing, "Canada is implementing our $1.3 billion border plan -- reinforcing the border with new choppers, technology and personnel, enhanced coordination with our American partners, and increased resources to stop the flow of fentanyl.
Trudeau also added, "Nearly 10,000 frontline personnel are and will be working on protecting the border." The moves will result in a 30-day delay in the tariffs in order to work out a deal, he said.
The moves mirror similar promises Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum issued earlier in the day after speaking to Trump.
U.S. tariffs imposed on Mexico have been "paused for a month," Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said in a post on X Monday shortly after speaking to President Donald Trump. Trump confirmed the news shortly after in a social media post of his own.
Sheinbaum said Mexico has agreed to "reinforce" the Mexico-U.S. border with 10,000 National Guard troops "immediately." She also said the U.S. had agreed to work to prevent high-powered weapons from being trafficked into Mexico.
BRAVO President Trump
Yes, I am Canadian and I noticed how rapidly the "Ottawa Swamp" responded to the Trump Tariffs by tightening up on crime related to the Canada - USA border and on how P. M. Justin Trudeau was fired by his Liberal Party seemingly within only weeks of his meetings with President Trump.

You don't think Trudeau would have been sacked without Trump's tariffs?

The new PM is from the same party, and has the financial creds to help the EU deal with Trump's nonsense. Good choice.
Trump's so-called "nonsense" is going to give huge economic growth to the USA GDP with millions of good paying American jobs.

I don't know. I think your exports are going to be going down for so many, many don't want to buy American anymore. Also the glut of buying products before tariffs has still to work it's way out of the market. And are companies willing to dish out the big wages to U.S. workers their unions will demand. I think not. Also companies that have made so called "deals" they'll be slow walking anything they promised. If Trump loses the Congress next year they'll push against whatever Trump thought he had worked out. Let's see what the economy is really like in October and November.

Counterintuitive according to economists.
And while oligarchs love money and power, they have no interest sharing it with good Americans.

The new PM with financial creds to help the EU deal with Trump's nonsense. - just helped close one of the biggest trade deals and then publicly thanked Trump.

Are these the same economists that predicted the terrible economy we were going to have by now?
