Johnson says Bondi needs to 'come forward and explain' handling of Epstein files
Late Tuesday afternoon, Kentucky GOP Rep. Thomas Massie said he plans to pursue a procedural gambit to trigger a House vote on legislation that would force the release of the "complete" Epstein files.
I think the time has come for the administration to release all of the files regarding Jeffrey Epstein’s investigation and prosecution. It’s important that we protect the names of the victims. They should be excluded from any disclosure, but whether or not the facts justify charges, I think that anyone who participated or was associated with this despicable man ought to be held up to public scrutiny.
Huh. So he did write it.Trump Responds After Report on 50th Birthday Letter to Jeffrey Epstein
The letter bearing Trump's name, reviewed by the Journal, is dated 2003 and is said to feature several lines of typewritten text surrounded by the outline of a naked woman, sketched in marker.
The illustration also includes two small arcs representing breasts, with Trump's signature written below the waist
The letter reportedly concludes: "Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret."
The president told the Journal in a Tuesday interview: "This is not me. This is a fake thing. It's a fake Wall Street Journal story. I never wrote a picture in my life. I don't draw pictures of women. It's not my language. It's not my words."
Trump ranted about the Journal on Truth Social, writing: "The Wall Street Journal, and Rupert Murdoch, personally, were warned directly by President Donald J. Trump that the supposed letter they printed by President Trump to Epstein was a FAKE and, if they print it, they will be sued. Mr. Murdoch stated that he would take care of it but, obviously, did not have the power to do so. The Editor of The Wall Street Journal, Emma Tucker, was told directly by Karoline Leavitt, and by President Trump, that the letter was a FAKE, but Emma Tucker didn't want to hear that. Instead, they are going with a false, malicious, and defamatory story anyway."
Sounds like somebody has given Burchett some advice.Johnson says Bondi needs to 'come forward and explain' handling of Epstein files
Tennessee Republican Rep. Tim Burchett told ABC News he is "not happy" with how Bondi has handled the Epstein matter. Later in a letter sent Tuesday, Burchett called on House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer to invite Maxwell to testify in a public hearing.
What? Out in the open for everyone to hear? Can't have that.Maxwell offers to testify before Congress on Epstein's sex trafficking scheme
"She would be more than happy to sit before Congress and tell her story."

Deputy Attorney General [and former Trump personal lawyer] Todd Blanche will meet with Ghislaine Maxwell 'in the coming days,' Bondi says
Attorney General Pam Bondi said Monday that Deputy Attorney Todd Blanche will meet with Ghislaine Maxwell, the convicted associate of deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, sometime in the "coming days."
"President Trump has told us to release all credible evidence. If Ghislane Maxwell has information about anyone who has committed crimes against victims, the FBI and the DOJ will hear what she has to say," Blanche said in the statement posted by Bondi on X.
[And then will you release it?]
NDA, nah? Trump's lawyers* are going to cook up an proffer from Maxwell where the most prominent Dem or two are IDed as "Epstein clients" and (potentially) charged *AND* (this is the most important part) claim Trump never sampled Epstein's "wares".Any bets on when Maxwell will be pardoned and released? (after signing a non-disclosure agreement of course)?
He is a follower at heart, which is why he makes such a poor leader.Meanwhile, Mike is getting back in line.
- Epstein case: Speaker Mike Johnson said he would shut down the House until September in order to head off Democratic demands for votes calling for the release of files from the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced financier and sex offender who was once friends with President Trump. Mr. Johnson said votes would end Wednesday night in what he called an effort to avoid “political games” related to the Justice Department’s handling of the files. The announcement came just after the House Oversight Committee voted to subpoena Ghislaine Maxwell, the longtime partner of Mr. Epstein, for a deposition.

Mr. Johnson *really* wants this to go away. He hopes that the August break (which is about to start) will cool the fever on the discharge petition, but......some Republicans are not happy with Johnson's decision to dismiss the House....
After initially saying the material should come out, Mr. Johnson on Monday vowed that he would not schedule a vote this summer on whether to release the Epstein files, saying that Mr. Trump needed “space” to determine how to proceed. On Tuesday, he claimed that House Republicans were united on the issue. But they appeared to be far from it.
The sound *pretty* intent, and if all the Dems support the petition (and that seems likely) there are twice as many Republicans already supporting it than needed (w/ Dems) to force a vote. (Due to House rules, the required number of legislative days for the petition to "ripen" won't occur until after they come back.)“Crimes have been committed,” said Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, Republican of Georgia. “If there’s no justice and no accountability, people are going to get sick of it. That’s where people largely are.”
Representative Ralph Norman, Republican of South Carolina and a member of the Rules panel, criticized his leaders for “stalling” on the matter.
“The American people deserve action, not excuses,” he wrote on social media on Tuesday. “Let’s vote on it before August recess and get it DONE!!”
And Representative Thomas Massie, Republican of Kentucky, said he still planned to circumvent House Republican leaders and force a vote on releasing the Epstein files in September, with the help of Democrats, using a maneuver known as a discharge petition.
“He just told us in there to stick their heads in the sand about this Epstein thing,” Mr. Massie said after a Republican conference meeting, noting that Mr. Johnson had offered members no clear explanation of why a vote on the matter needed to be delayed.

Maxwell groomed underage girls by taking them shopping and to the cinema and was “present for certain sexual encounters between minor victims and Epstein,” including nude “sexualized massages,” according to the DOJ.She shouldn’t be, but she is. She is really serving Jeffrey Epstein’s sentence. After he committed suicide, there was no one else to prosecute ’cause there was no real information against anybody else and so they went after her and they sentenced her to the sentence that would have been appropriate for Epstein, but not at all appropriate for her, and so she’s appealing now and I hope the appeal will be granted. She deserves to be out.
