Former President Donald Trump accused Facebook and Google of censoring news of his assassination attempt, saying it’s an attempt to rig the election.

“Facebook has just admitted that it wrongly censored the Trump ‘attempted assassination photo,’ and got caught. Same thing for Google,” Mr. Trump wrote in a Truth Social post Tuesday. “They made it virtually impossible to find pictures or anything about this heinous act.”

“Both are facing big backlash over censorship claims,” he said as he switched into his signature all-capitals style. “Here we go again, another attempt at rigging the election!!! Go after Meta and Google. Let them know we are all wise to them, will be much tougher this time. MAGA 2024!”

"Meta, the company behind Facebook, has apologized for removing a photo of former President Donald Trump shortly after he was shot in the ear at a Pennsylvania campaign rally earlier this month.

Shortly after some right-wing social media accounts complained that Facebook was preventing them from sharing a photo of Trump in the wake of the shooting, Facebook spokesperson Dani Lever took to Twitter to explain that the image should not have been censored.

"This was an error," Lever wrote. "This fact check was initially applied to a doctored photo showing the secret service agents smiling, and in some cases our systems incorrectly applied that fact check to the real photo. This has been fixed and we apologize for the mistake."

The Google story is about autocomplete, not the photo:
Google's search is not showing results for the attempted assassination of Donald Trump in its autocomplete feature, and Google has told Newsweek "we're working on improvements."

Users of the popular search engine are not seeing the recent shooting against the former president in Pennsylvania as a drop down option when typed in Google's search bar.

Newsweek confirmed that mentions of the July 13 shooting do not come up on Google even when "assassination attempt of Tr" are typed in. Instead, the first result of the autocomplete feature is the attempted assassination of former president Harry S. Truman in 1950.

I closed my account about 20 years ago, when I got a notice that basically said that any personal information that I revealed on their site became their property; and that they could gather more information on me, and add it to their dossier on me, and use it any way that they saw fit.

We're all good friends and everything; but I wasn't looking for that intimate of a relationship.

I personally have no problem if Google or Meta want to censor certain content that they deem unsuitable for their consumer base. But there is a caveat, that their protection from liability from user contents be revoked. A company can't claim to be both private yet enjoys the benefits of being a public platform under law.

Google has long been known for their unlawful practises. The fact that they dropped the motto "Don't be evil" a long time ago says it all. Meta is no different. When something is free know that you are the product. Google and Meta have been selling our data without our consent. Even after you have read their terms and conditions they can change said terms and conditions in the future and retroactively apply them.
