U.S. President Donald Trump has paused military aid to Ukraine following his clash with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy last week, a White House official said, deepening the fissure that has opened between the one-time allies.
Trump upended U.S. policy on Ukraine and Russia upon taking office in January, opening talks with Moscow. The reversal culminated in an explosive confrontation with Zelenskiy at the White House on Friday, in which Trump upbraided him for being insufficiently grateful for Washington's backing.

"President Trump has been clear that he is focused on peace. We need our partners to be committed to that goal as well. We are pausing and reviewing our aid to ensure that it is contributing to a solution," said the official on Monday, speaking on condition of anonymity.
The White House had no immediate comment on the scope and amount of aid affected or how long the pause would last. The Pentagon could not provide further details.

And there we have it. Russia just needs to wait until the ukranian army runs out of equipment and then can conquer the country, kill the men, rape the women, abduct the children and settle and plunder the new Lebensraum with it's people and sympathetic ex-ukranians before moving on to moldova and the baltic states.

The former Polish president and Nobel peace prize winner Lech Wałęsa has signed a letter to Donald Trump expressing “horror and distaste” at his argument with the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in the White House last week.

The letter, signed by Wałęsa and more than 30 former Polish political prisoners held during the communist era, said Trump and his vice-president’s demands that Zelenskyy show gratitude were “insulting” in the face of the Ukrainian country’s fight for freedom.

The US and only the US supplies military aid to Ukraine eh? What a sad statement that is for the UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Japan etc. And pause means permanent. Perhaps the pause will only last until Zelenskyy presses restart and tries a better approach.

Actually it was pointed out that he didn't say thank you. Not saying thank you when someone gives you a whole lot of help used to be considered insulting. But apparently now it's supposed to be okay, and thinking it's rude to not say thank you is insulting. A whole lot of reeducating is going to be needed for this 180 degree change in manners.

I must have missed the part of the Bible that says things like charity, justice, and protecting the weak are only expected when the recipient of those benefits is sufficiently grateful.

I don't think I've ever seen someone fight as hard as you do for the current administration.

Are you saying that the pause is based solely on Zelenskyy not having said thank you?

I'm arguing against illogic, hyperbole and sensationalism. And it just so happens a huge amount of that is directed at the current administration. Should I go along with it instead? I bet I could say completely ridiculous and outlandish things against the current administration and score a whole bunch of likes for it.

No, I think Trump respects Putin, but not Zelensky and clearly doesn't want to do much to help Ukraine. Zelensky's lack of groveling was merely an excuse to browbeat him.

It was more than just the lack of a thank you, it was Zelenskyy's overall demeanor in those last ten minutes. Although I admit I'm not predisposed to seeing nefarious plots when it's seems far more likely to me based on having watched the exchange. that Zelenskyy rubbed them the wrong way. I think the debate should be whether or not Trump and Vance should have taken umbrage, rather than debating whether or not some sinister plot was afoot.

That's pretty silly considering there's several factors involved. Or are you forgetting about what Zelenskyy was wearing?

Seriously, what he was wearing? He was wearing the same kind of military-esque outfit he's been wearing in every meeting and press conference since the war started, which I assume is his way of saying to his citizens and to the world that he's in solidarity with the people fighting to defend his country.

I don't understand why you think what I'm describing is a "sinister plot" when I would merely describe it as a realignment of priorities. I don't think Trump is getting paid off; I think he's a terrible person who doesn't appreciate the ramifications of what he's doing, but I don't think there's anything secret about it.

Frankly, your take on it makes Trump and Vance look even worse, because not only are they making what I would describe as bad decisions, but in your take, they're doing so because they're a couple of man-babies willing to upend decades of foreign policy because Zelensky didn't stroke their egos hard enough.

But what about his demeanor was problematic? That he was too high strung and couldn't yuk yuk with the jokes? That he didn't sit back and quietly abide Vance's idiotic comments?

He did say "Thank you'. He said that he had said it before.

...and has done so on numerous occasions.

The American people know that he and the Ukranian people are grateful.

It seems to me that: "No, I think Trump respects Putin, but not Zelensky and clearly doesn't want to do much to help Ukraine. Zelensky's lack of groveling was merely an excuse to browbeat him." at least means they had anterior motives, rather than they (right or wrong) just got annoyed.

You're really good at that. I can only imagine how others would react if I used that kind of language in describing Zelenskyy. I think I'd probably get a warning for flaming a public figure.

Either you get it from watching the exchange or you don't.

I'm really good at describing the implications of other people's claims? Thanks, I try.

Really, that's all I was doing. If your assessment is correct (which I don't think it is btw), i.e. that they dropped support of Ukraine because they got annoyed with Zelensky, then they're both extremely petty and short-sighted. How thin-skinned do you have to be to tank a military deal like this because your feewings got huwt?

Either you get it from watching the exchange or you don't.

I'm asking you to articulate your position. You've demonstrated enough mastery of English that I figured you'd be able to.

No, the issue is Zelenskyy said things he shouldn't have said to the Trump admin, or the Biden admin, or the Obama admin or any other admin that's rendered aid to Ukraine.

What I said above should cover it, but I can't make you see it the way I and others who see it the same way do.

I don't think many Americans Evangelicals are actually interested in genuinely submitting to the Scriptures anymore. It's become a tool of political indoctrination and culture war for them, and nothing else.
