Trump wrong that House never asked Bolton to testify
Trump said, "The Democrat controlled House never even asked John Bolton to testify."

The House asked Bolton to appear voluntarily for a deposition on Nov. 7. He did not, saying that he would only appear if he were subpoenaed and if a court ruled that he should.

We rate Trump’s statement False.

I have a new found respect for Kenneth Starr.:)
Well, that's not something people hear a lot of about a Jeffery Epstein lawyer. Or a guy who wrote a letter in support of a convicted teacher who molested 5 girls. Or even a guy who lost his job for failing to protect the female students from sexual violence at the University he was president of.

An unlikely job considering he's now been involved in two of the three Presidents that have been impeached in US history.
tulc(hears if he's involved in one more impeachment he'll get his own footnote in history) ;)

Is it any wonder Trump wanted him on the team?

"I deeply regret that I took on the Lewinsky phase of the investigation."

I have a feeling that he's going to regret this one, too...

Apparently one of Bolton's subordinates threatened to sue the Democratic Committee after he received his subpoena and it learned through Bolton's lawyer that he was prepared to do the same!

Given that the Committee had already spent 9 months in the Courts trying to subpoena the former White House lawyer, conducting the Impeachment trial after the the 2020 Election was counterproductive!

Key Republicans ignored subpoenas in contempt of Congress. A Republican is not above the law. Ask Paul Manafort who is serving prison time for tax evasion.

The president's former chief of staff has said that he believes Bolton's account of what Trump said.

Former Trump Chief of Staff John Kelly tells Sarasota crowd ‘I believe John Bolton’
Asked if Bolton - Trump’s former national security adviser - should testify at Trump’s impeachment trial, Kelly said he supports calling witnesses.

President Donald Trump is denying that he told former National Security Adviser John Bolton that he wanted to withhold military aid from Ukraine until the country launched investigations into Joe Biden and his son, allegations that Bolton levies in his new book, according to a New York Times report.

But one of Trump’s former top aides told a Sarasota audience Monday evening that if the reporting on what Bolton wrote is accurate, he believes Bolton.

“If John Bolton says that in the book, I believe John Bolton,” said retired Gen. John Kelly, who served as Trump’s chief of staff for 18 months.

Trump falsely claims House Democrats never asked Bolton to testify

Apparently this President is now directing threatening "tweets" toward former National Security Adviser and potential Senate witness John Bolton - given that the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court is adjudicating the Impeachment Trial in the Senate,, one of the questions that should be directed his way is the legal definition of "witness tampering!"

Doesn't really matter now because,
this fake impeachment thing is just about over.

Even Dianne Feinstein kind of went there stating that. Of course she had to back it off once the DNC got on to her.

Everyone knows it's done -- well done.

= easy Trump win in 2020.

Given that 70% of the American public, including approximately half of all Republicans polled, support an Impeachment Trial that includes witnesses and documents, just how are GOP Senators going to go back to their constituents to explain as to why they're right and the majority of the electorate is wrong?

While it is within the power of Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and the Republican Senate to ignore public opinion and terminate this Impeachment Trial without witnesses and documents, the question remains as to how many of these members are willing to risk their seats in the 2020 Election to defend the reckless behavior of one Donald J Trump?

The presidential phone call in question occurred the day after Mueller testified before Congress - if the Republican Senate exonerates Trump this week, an unrepentant President who doesn't appear to learn from his past mistakes will only feel more emboldened to engage in similar "perfect phone calls" next week!

Hence their wish to somehow make it all go away as soon as possible. McConnell has since admitted that he doesn't have the votes to cover up witness testimony. If that continues, it's very likely that witnesses will be called, and the cover-up will fail.

And the process will then drag out over several weeks. Notably, this will spoil Trump's planned victory lap at the State of the Union address.
