SPOILER BELOW DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT A SPOILER!!!!
I tried to keep it as general as possible but still don't want anyone to get sour.

Where are they at in the second season..I don't have HBO anymore so I've not watched any of this season, but I'm on book 4.

In the second season, they just battle the Maenad (sp?) and one vampire has been kidnapped (per the Queen's instructions, maybe) after asking a very big question.

I like this series! At times it is a bit too slow paced for me and I DO have issues with sexual content (it is a bit much and the series really does not need it imho). This is also the reason I can't really recommend it to many people.

But I do like the plot. As far as vampire series go, this is a good one. Love the way they unfold the world of the vampires and other mythical creatures.

sounds to me like they're jumping ahead a bit..did Sookie and Bill not go to Dallas?

The series doesn't follow the books that closely. I've read most of the books(didn't enjoy them that much...not a fan of her writing style) and I thought that it would ruin the series for me but it hasn't because they don't match up much. I prefer the series.

I do have some criticism,lol...and it's not about the sex because I can't wait for some steamier action from Eric. I don't like Anna's portrayal of Sookie....Bill is getting to be a bore....Tara annoys me to NO END! And the maenad thing was too drawn out.

I LOVE Jason's character...but my favorite is Lafayette. All the supporting characters are great, imo. And of course, Eric is perfectly cast. I loved the storyline with Eric and his maker.

I've slowed down on my reading since I've been working so much more, but I like the books better than the show (at least from what I saw in the first season). There's more in the book than what was in the show. I can't wait to see what they do with Eric in the show after reading what I have in the book..I'd really like to see them stay close with what was written.

I really like the show, and how it takes a completely different path from the books (except for the first season, which establishes the rules of that world). The books are excellent, except Harris can't write a sex scene to save her life. I read more graphic stuff when I was 13.

Eric basically marries Sookie

I love this show!

It's definitely soft porn and soft gore in some scenes, but somehow they manage to never cross the line. So it can get really bloody but it's not real horror (fortunately because I don't like horror at all).

I fell in love with the show with the 1st episode, I was fascinated by the plot and the acting. You never know where they're going with the plot and I appreciate that. Full of surprises.

My favourite season is the second, all the "fellowship of the sun" thing is a very funny satire of fundamentalist churches.

I'm a week late and just watched ep. 09 of season 3. :)

Not everything has subliminal messages..some thing just are what they are. It's just a fictional (obviously:p) vampire series.

I finally got to watch the second season when it came out on DVD, it was really good..not as far off from the book as I thought it would be. Can't wait til I can watch season 3. The books are still better, IMO.

recently watched an episode of this on tv and was rather surprised with the content. soft core porn, distasteful language and degrading representation of the Church.
as a christian i cant see how watching this type of material is glorifying our Lord.
im curious about peoples spiritual rationale on this.

Then by all means, don't watch it or read it. But I am perfectly capable of deciding what is and is not appropriate for me to watch, read, listen to..ect.

are you deciding whats right or wrong or is it the holy spirit that lives within you? who is your authority on things of sin - God or yourself?
i politely ask you this because it seems from your answer that you are your authority on this matter.

shalom.
