I love this show too! I find that although HBO is definitely NOT a Christian channel/broadcast (far from it), the way they treat Christianity is generally fair. I mean yet, in True Blood the way they go on about the anti-vampire church is a bit crazy... but then we have churches like that right now! Plus, Sookies Grandma and her faith was treated really well.

True Blood rocks, and I can't wait to finish up this season to see where it leads... of course then I have to wait for season three, and that might be near impossible!

Well I'm just finishing up the 3rd book (I've been so busy it's taken me forever to finish it) and the series is only going to get more exciting..of course, the book is better than the show, but still..seasons that follow should be better than the last.

I do not like the opening sequence of this show - it really bothers me, but i think the show is brilliantly written and well acted. I was talkin' to a friend of mine about it and found it really disturbing considering the content when she said several of her daughter's friends (15/16 yrs old) are big fans. I can't imagine some of the Maryann scenes being even close to appropriate for that age! I have a feeling these kids parents don't have a clue what they're watching. I'm betting they think its like Twilight which of course it is not.

I haven't seen the series since I don't have HBO. But, I just bought the first book in the series by Charlaine Harris entitled "Dead Until Dark." I was really surprised by all the explicit sexual content. I like the premise, but I was thinking of not reading any further if the whole series is so explicitly sexual. Is the TV show like that? Anyone else who read the books - are you bothered by this?

Bothered by the sex? Why would I be? If it bothers you to read it then you shouldn't watch the show because there are pretty graphic sexual situations. I'm not offended by most things, so I have no problems with this series.

I love True Blood - the situations they have with Maryann and the "trance's" are very racy and not anything a teenager should see. The way the show portrays any sexual content is all within the storyline and makes it the great show it is. If it was a show full of censorship I doubt it would be entertaining.

I found the ending of last night's episode a little odd. I mean Sookie has seen all these folks with googly eyes so why scream like she did when she saw it happen to Lafayette. Did she think he was some how immuned? I also couldn't figure out why the Tara's mother let her go after what her and Lafayette went through to get her and having Sookie bring her back from googly eye land. I thought that didn't make much sense.

I agree- I think the characters in the show, while full developed, are all a bit dumb. And I think they're supposed to be. I mean why would Sookie think she could just walk into that house? I think Tara has a huge hold over her mother, who is very susceptible to being persuaded, which is exactly what Tara did. I mean, she's only known Eggs for a few weeks/months tops... and he doesn't exactly run in the best of circles. Her mom should have known better.

9/13 will be a good episode hopefully. I just hope they continue giving Jason awesome lines!

As far as the sexual content of the series, I have heard it described as "soft porn." I'm not sure this is appropriate for Christians.

Then by all means, don't watch it or read it. But I am perfectly capable of deciding what is and is not appropriate for me to watch, read, listen to..ect.

I detect that you are annoyed by my statement. By all means watch whatever you want. But, I also have a right to my opinion.

I happened to see a little of the show the other day because I was staying at a hotel which has HBO. I must say I was quite shocked by the vulgar language as well. I guess I won't be watching or reading the books any more.

I've been watching it since the start of the first season and absolutely enjoy the show.
Yes, there is a large amount of nudity and the language is worse then what I heard in both the army and elsewhere. Still, imo, the writing and plot lines more then make up for this.
As mentioned above I hope that they continue to give Jason some good lines and keep up with the characters development. In first season he was there mostly to be the person that bad things happened too. Now he's becoming a fully developed character.
My girlfriend like to call him the "Crusader without a clue". I see him more as a individual who has woken up and now trying to find his own place in the world.
